Bertha Harriet Hansford, daughter of James Hansford and Edith Haggett, was born in Castel, GuernseyG, about 1851.1 She married George Samuel Wheadon, son of Edward Wheadon and Elizabeth Le Pelley.
     In 1861 Bertha was living at Le Friquet, CastelG, in the household of her parents James and Edith, and was recorded in the census as Bertha Hansford, a scholar, aged nine and born in the Castel.2
     In 1871 she was living at Friquet, CastelG, in the household of her parents James and Edith, and was recorded as Bertha H Hansford, unmarried, aged 19 and born in the Castel.3
     In 1881 she was living at 2 Essex Cottages, Fosse André, St Peter PortG, in the household of her husband George, 31, a merchants' clerk, and was recorded as Bertha H Wheadon, aged 29 and born in the Castel. Living with them were their children, Edith, 7, Bertha, 5, Hubert, 3, and Lily, aged one. Also in the household was a female general servant.4
     In 1891 she was living at Fosse André, St Peter PortG, in the household of her husband George, 41, a foreman in a wine and spirit and grocery business, and was recorded as Bertha H Wheadon, aged 39 and born in the Castel.      In 1901 she was living at Fosse André, St Peter PortG, in the household of her husband George, 51, manager of a wine, spirit, and tobacco merchants, and was recorded as Bertha H Wheadon, a ladies and childrens outfitter, an employer, aged 49 and born in the Castel. Living with them were their children, Bertha, 25, Lily, 21, Ruth, 18, and Dorothy, aged seven. Also in the house were a female housekeeper and her son.6
     In 1911 she was living at The Hollies, Fosse André, St Peter PortG, in the household of her husband George, 61, a shop assistant in a wine merchants, and was recorded as Bertha Harriet Wheadon, proprietor of a ladies outfitters, aged 59 and born in the Castel. Living with them were their unmarried daughters, Bertha, 35, Ruth, 28, and Dorothy Wheadon, aged 17, all employed in their mother's business. Also in the household was a female domestic servant.7

James Hansford, farrier, son of Robert Hansford and Sarah ___, was born in Weymouth, DorsetG, in 18231 and baptized at Wyke Regis, DorsetG, on 18 May 1823.1 He died aged 74 at Fosse André, St Peter PortG, on 1 March 1897.2 He married at Town Church, St Peter Port, GuernseyG, on 7 April 1847, Edith Haggett, daughter of William Haggett.3
     In 1841 James was living at Paisants Village, St Peter's, GuernseyG, in the household of Job Hansford (perhaps an uncle), and was recorded in the census as James Hansford, aged 15+ and born in England.4
     In 1851 he was living at Friquet, CastelG, and was recorded as James Hansford, a blacksmith, head of household, married, aged 28 and born in England. Living with him were his wife Edith, 32, and their children, Richard, 3, and Hubert, aged one.5
     In 1861 he was living at Le Friquet, CastelG, and was recorded as James Hansford, a blacksmith, head of household, married, aged 37 and born in Dorset. Living with him was his wife Edith, aged 73. They were living next door to their daughter Bertha and son-in-law George Wheadon.9

Christopher Haysom, of Swanage, Dorset, son of John Haysom and Margaret Iles, was born in SwanageG in 1720 and baptized there on 24 June 1720.1 He was probably the Christopher Haysom who died in Swanage, DorsetG, in 1779 and was buried there on 28 March 1779.3 He married in East Stoke, DorsetG, on 17 February 1750, Catherine Warren.2
