Elizabeth Fisher was born in Costessey, Norfolk^G, about 1806.¹ Her parents have not been identified. She married in Lakenham, Norfolk^G, on 26 December 1825, James Freeman, son of James Freeman and Elizabeth Hurry.²
     In 1841 Elizabeth was living at Fishgate Street, St Edmund, Norwich, Norfolk^G, in the household of her husband James, and was recorded in the census as Elizabeth Freeman, aged 34 and born in Norfolk.³
     In 1851 she was living at 9 Gilden Croft, St Augustine, Norwich, Norfolk^G, in the household of her husband James, and was recorded as Elizabeth Freeman, aged 44 and born in Costessey, Norfolk.⁴

Emily Olive Freeman, daughter of John Freeman and Olive Stokes, was born in Marylebone, London^G, in 1871.¹ She died there aged 28 in 1899.² She married in All Souls Church, Hampstead, London^G, on 25 December 1893, Ernest Alfred Palmer, son of George Palmer and Frances H Watson.^3,4
     In 1881 Emily was living at 6 St Anne Terrace, St Marylebone^G, in the household of her parents John and Olive, and was recorded in the census as Emily Freeman, a scholar, aged nine and born in Marylebone.⁵
     In 1891 she was living at 6 St Anne Terrace, St Marylebone^G, in the household of her parents John and Olive, and was recorded as Emily Freeman, a dressmaker, aged 19 and born in Marylebone.⁶

James Freeman, silk weaver, of Norwich, Norfolk, son of James Freeman and Elizabeth Hurry, was born in Norwich^G on 2 December 1806^1,2 and baptized at St Edmund's Church, Norwich^G, on 7 December 1806.³ He died aged 69 at his home in Devonshire Place, Old Palace Road, Norwich^G, on 12 October 1876.⁴ He married in Lakenham, Norfolk^G, on 26 December 1825, Elizabeth Fisher.⁵
     In 1841 James was living at Fishgate Street, St Edmund, Norwich^G, and was recorded in the census as James Freeman, a silk weaver, aged 34 and born in Norfolk. Living with him were his wife Elizabeth, 34, and children, Ann, 15, James, 14, William, 12, Caroline, 10, Harriett, 9, Samuel, 7, John, 3, and Mary Ann, aged eight months. Also in the household was Ann Freeman, 88, perhaps James's grandmother.⁶
     In 1851 he was living at 9 Gilden Croft, St Augustine, Norwich^G, and was recorded as James Freeman, a manufacturer's warehouseman, head of household, married, aged 44 and born in Norwich. Living with him were his wife Elizabeth, 44, and their children, Ann, 25, Harriot, 17, Samuel, 15, John, 13, Mary, 10, Charlotte, 8, Emma, 6, and Susan, aged one.⁷
     In 1861 he was living at 26 John Street, St Peters per Mountergate, Norwich^G, and was recorded as James Freeman, a warehouseman in a silk factory, head of household, married, aged 54 and born in Norwich. Living with him were his children, John, 22, Charlotte, 18, Susannah, 12, and Elizabeth, aged nine.⁸
     James made a will which was proved at the Principal Registry, London^G, on 22 November 1876. His personal estate was valued at under £200. His son John was the executor.⁹
