John Freeman, master bootmaker of St Marylebone, London, son of James Freeman and Elizabeth Fisher, was born in Norwich, NorfolkG, on 19 November 18371 and baptized at St Clement's Church, NorwichG, on 26 November 1837.1 He married in St Stephen's Church, Hampstead, MiddlesexG, on 26 February 1870, Olive Stokes, daughter of Akers Stoakes/Rogers and Mary Russell.2,3
In 1841 John was living at Fishgate Street, St Edmund, NorwichG, in the household of his parents James and Elizabeth, and was recorded in the census as John Freeman, aged three and born in Norfolk.4
In 1851 he was living at 9 Gilden Croft, St Augustine, NorwichG, in the household of his parents James and Elizabeth, and was recorded as John Freeman, a scholar, aged 13 and born in Norwich.5
In 1861 he was living at 26 John Street, St Peters per Mountergate, NorwichG, in the household of his father James, and was recorded as John Freeman, a shoemaker, unmarried, aged 22 and born in Norwich.6
