John Fegen Sackett, tailor, son of Robert George Sackett and Judith Fegen, was born in Ramsgate, KentG, in 18461 and baptized at St George's Church, RamsgateG, on 21 February 1847.2 He died aged 39 in Thanet, KentG, in 1886.3 He married in ThanetG in 1865, Sarah Johnson Taylor.4,5 Sarah was born in MargateG in about 1847. She died aged 61 at the Ladbroke Grove Infirmary, St Marylebone, LondonG, on 26 May 1908.6,7
In 1851 John was living at 12 York Street, RamsgateG, and was recorded in the census as John Sackett, aged four and born in Ramsgate, son of Robert G Sackett.8
In 1861 he was living at 3 Leopold Street, RamsgateG, in the household of his parents Robert and Judith, and was recorded as John Sackett, a sailor, aged 14, and born in Ramsgate.9
In 1881 he was living at Ada Cottage, Farley Place, RamsgateG, and was recorded as John F Sackett, a tailor, head of household, married, aged 34 and born in Ramsgate, Kent. Living with him were his wife Sarah, aged 34 and also born in Ramsgate, their children, John, 16, Sarah, 14, Ellen, 11, Robert, 5, Judith, 2, and Amelia, aged two months, and an elderly gentleman lodger.10
In 1891 John's widow Sarah was living at 8 Leopold Street, RamsgateG, and was recorded in the census as Sarah J Sackett, a needle woman, head of household, a widow, aged 42, and born in Margate. Living with her were her children, George, 16, and Judith, aged 12.11
In 1901 Sarah was living at 25 Frederick Street, St Marylebone, LondonG, in the household of William and Emily Turrell, and was recorded as S Sackett, a needleworker, a widow aged 54 and born in Margate.12
In 1851 John was living at 12 York Street, RamsgateG, and was recorded in the census as John Sackett, aged four and born in Ramsgate, son of Robert G Sackett.8
