Richard Hogbin, son of John Hogbin and Mary Sackett, was baptized at St John in Thanet, KentG, on 17 October 1802.1 He died aged 78 in ThanetG in 18812 and was buried at Ebenezer Chapel Cemetery, Ramsgate, KentG.3 He married in Margate, KentG, on 2 December 1824, Hannah Cayley.4 Hannah was born in Chatham, KentG, in about 1799.5,6 She died aged 55 on 1 August 1854 and was buried at Ebenezer Chapel Cemetery, RamsgateG.7,8
In 1841 Richard was living at Wellington Cottages, RamsgateG, and was recorded in the census as Richard Hogbin, a baker, aged 35+ and born in Kent. Living with him were his wife Hannah, 40+, and their children, Hannah, 15, Sarah, 14, Elizabeth, 13, Richard, 12, John, 10, Mary, 6, Helen 4, and Mercy, aged one.9
In 1851 he was living at 1½ Wellington Cottages, RamsgateG, and was recorded as Richard Hogbin, a master baker employing one man, aged 48 and born in Margate. Living with him were his wife Hannah, 52, and their children, Elizabeth, 23, Richard, 21, John, 19, Mary, 16, Helen, 14, and Mercy, aged eleven.10
In 1861 he was living at 1½ Wellington Cottages, RamsgateG, and was recorded as Richard Hogbin, a master baker employing two men, a widower, aged 58. Living with him were his daughters, Mary, 26, Helen, 24, and Mercy, 21.11
In 1871 he was living at 21 Alliance Square, RamsgateG, and was recorded as Richard Hogbin, baker and Wesleyan local preacher, a widower, aged 68. Living with him were his married daughter Helen Hudson, 34, and his unmarried daughter Mercy, 31.12
In 1841 Richard was living at Wellington Cottages, RamsgateG, and was recorded in the census as Richard Hogbin, a baker, aged 35+ and born in Kent. Living with him were his wife Hannah, 40+, and their children, Hannah, 15, Sarah, 14, Elizabeth, 13, Richard, 12, John, 10, Mary, 6, Helen 4, and Mercy, aged one.9
