Helen Louisa Hogbin, daughter of Richard Hogbin and Hannah Cayley, was born in Ramsgate, KentG, in 18361 and baptized there on 7 August 1836.2 She died aged 72 in Thanet, KentG, in 19093 and was buried at Ramsgate CemeteryG.4,5 She married in Thanet, KentG, in 1861, Charles William Hudson, son of John Hudson and Frances Pankhurst.6 Charles was born in Margate, KentG, on 10 January 1837.7
     In 1841 Helen was living at Wellington Cottages, RamsgateG, in the household of her parents Richard and Hannah, and was recorded in the census as Helen Hogbin, aged four and born in Kent.8
     In 1851 she was living at 1½ Wellington Cottages, RamsgateG, in the household of her parents Richard and Hannah, and was recorded as Helen L Hogbin, aged 14 and born in Ramsgate.9
     In 1861 she was living at 1½ Wellington Cottages, RamsgateG, in the household of her widowed father Richard, and was recorded as Helen L Hogbin, aged 24. Helen's future husband Charles Hudson was also in the household.10
     In 1871 she was living at 21 Alliance Square, RamsgateG, in the household of her widowed father Richard, and was recorded as Helen L Hudson, aged 34. Her husband was not in the household.11
     In 1881 she was living at 57 Plains of Waterloo, RamsgateG, in the household of her unmarried sister Mary S Hogbin, 46, also described as a lodging house keeper, and was recorded as Helen L Hudson, a lodging house keeper, aged 44.12
     In 1891 she was living at 3 Luther Villas, St Patrick's Road, Deal, KentG, and was recorded as Helen L Hudson, aged 54. She was living with her sisters, Hannah Newing, 65, and Mary Hogbin, 56.13

Sudden death.
On Wednesday last, Helen Louisa Hudson, aged 72, of 68, High Street, St Lawrence, was found dead in bed. In July she had a apoplectic stroke and was then attended by Dr Hicks, who on being called in on Wednesday expressed the opinion death was due to natural causes. The case was reported to the Coroner who did not consider an inquest necessary.
