A Specimen.—At the head of the company that came in yesterday morning from Warren, Trumbull county, was a man who attracted more attention than was accorded to any other member of the company. He stood about six feet two inches in height, and his physical development was somewhat extraordinary. During the stay of the company here, he amused himself and many others by performing antics and exhibiting his powers and activity in many ways. At the depot he raised above his head, with apparent ease, a barrel so heavy that but few of his comrades could lift it from the ground; without any seeming exertion, he leaped twelve feet, and in running he could outstrip the fleetest of them. He "tumbled" with the ease and quickness of a trained performer, and seemed perfectly at home in throwing "handsprings," somersaults, and the like. His weight is about two hundred and twenty pounds. We doubt not he will prove anything but a pleasing companion to any half dozen secessionists that may be so unfortunate as to get within his reach.

     Messrs Editors: — In your notice of the company which passed through your city yesterday en route for Camp Jackson, you speak of one soldier in particular as exciting remark by his size, &c. His name is Almon Sackett, from Fowler, Trumbull county. He weighed when he first came here 275 pounds. He has lost 5 pounds. When in your city he weighed 270 pounds instead of 220, as you stated. His size, (being 6 feet, 4½ inches in height) was at first spoken of as an objection, but he overruled it by saying that he wanted to go as a regimental standard bearer. In a contest with others for this honor, he stood in a designated place, and in three successive jumps, without running to give himself any momentum, he cleared the distance of 41 feet, 6½ inches. This is but one of a numerous series of instances of his enormous strength, agility, and perfection of physical power which he possesses in a high degree. Would that there were more like him to overawe, and show the puny scions of a degenerating climate and stock what kind of men the North will send to whip them.

Extremes Meet.
     The Columbus Journal was called upon a day or two since, by two of the soldiers from Camp Jackson. One was Almon Sackett, of Trumbull—belonging to Company B, Captain Hall—who weighs 265 pounds, is six feet five and a half inches high, and is as spry as a cat; the other, a drummer boy, named Keepers, of Butler, ten years old, and weighs sixty pounds. He is the best drummer in the Twenty-sixth Regiment.

Return of the 24th Regiment.
     The 24th Regiment O.V.I., having completed its term of three years, has been mustered out of service and returned home. Few if any regiments belonging to the army of the U. S., have seen harder or more constant service, or fought more frequently, and none have fought more bravely.
     Company F, Captain, (afterward Col.) A. S. Hall, who went from this place, numbered 101 men, including officers. Thirty seven men, only return, the remainder having been killed, and died of sickness, or have been discharged from disability. Those who have returned are as follows:

Funeral of Mrs. Eli Teed.
     The funeral of Mrs. Sarah J. Teed, who died Saturday, will be held this afternoon at 2:30 at her late home, 905 Armstrong avenue, Kansas City, Kas. The body will be placed in a vault at Woodlawn cemetery.

Mrs. Sarah J. Teed
     Mrs. Sarah J. Teed died March 21, at her home in Kansas City, Kas., after an illness of a year's duration. She was an old resident of Kansas City, having moved there from Wisconsin in 1872. Mrs. Teed was born in New York City, January 18, 1835. When a young girl her parents, Squire Sackett and wife, removed to Wisconsin and first settled at Milwaukee, then a small village and trading post. Later they moved to Waukesha, then called Prairieville, where she grew to womanhood and was married to Eli Teed. She leaves one son, Elmore S. Teed. The funeral was held on the 23rd ult., from her late home. The body was placed in a receiving vault to await removal to Wauwatosa cemetery, Wauwatosa.

Buried at Wauwatosa
     The remains of Mrs. Sarah J. Teed, who died at Kansas City several months ago, were brought to this city today, and tomorrow will be taken to Wauwatosa for burial. Deceased was a former resident of this city.

     Of typhoid fever Nov 22d, Corporal Edward H. Sackett, Co. E. 24th Wis. Vol., at the hospital in Nashville, Tenn, aged 22 years, the only son of Squire Sackett and Sarah S. Sackett, of Manitowoc.
     His remains have been brought to Manitowoc for interment, where his funeral will be attended Sunday, Dec. 7th, at 10½ A.M. at the Baptist Church.

A Noble Bequest
Miss Anna Sackett, who Died To-day, Gave Wisely.
Is Fine For The Deserving.
Provisions Made for the Education of Youths to Be Selected by Various Churches.
     Miss Anna Sackett died this morning at her home on the corner of Oakland and Arcadian Avenues. She was 55 years old and this was her birthday. For some time past she has been a sufferer with consumption and for the past few weeks her death has been expected at any time. She was born at Granville, Wis., and came here with her parents in 1867 and has lived here ever since. She had considerable property and was charitably inclined. She educated and started in business Vincent Ertelmeyer, who died last February. She leaves a sister, Mrs. Sarah J. Teed of Kansas City, who is the only surviving member of the family. Mrs. Teed has been here for some time caring for her sister.
For Education of Youth.
     Miss Sackett disposed of her property by will made in August, 1897. Under its provisions most of the estate goes to her sister, Mrs. Teed, though there are several legacies to other relatives and a bequest of two thousand dollars to trustees who are to keep that amount invested so that the income shall be used for higher education of some young person who may be recommended by the trustees of the Baptist church here for the four years now beginning, of the Methodist church for the next four years, and of the Presbyterian church for the next four; afterwards proceeding in the same order, indefinitely.
     The funeral will be held at the house at 10 o'clock on Tuesday morning, Rev. P.S. Everett officiating. Interment will take place at Wauwatosa where the other members of the family are buried.

Salesman Dies Suddenly.
Lorenzo B. Sackett Succumbs to Heart
Disease at Fair Haven.
(Special to the Herald.)
     Fair Haven, March 14.—Lorenzo B. Sackett, a traveling salesman for the Barker Collar company of Troy, N.Y., and Boston died suddenly at 11 o'clock this morning in the store of the Park View Clothing company.
     He was showing a pamphlet to Mr. St. Clair, the manager of the store, when he staggered and fell backward. Mr. St. Clair summoned Dr. Parkhurst who stated that death was due to heart trouble.
     Health Officer Dr. R. Lape and Selectman John Delehanty were called and the body was removed to Cahee's undertaking rooms. Mr. Cahee got into communication with the man's employers, and they notified relatives, who arrived here at 7:30 o'clock this evening. Mr. Sackett had been employed by the Barker company 15 years. He was 65 years old and leaves a wife, son and daughter of Watervliet, N. Y., where he resided. The body was taken to his home this evening.

Heart Disease Causes Death of Lorenzo
D. Sackett in this Town Friday
     While engaged in showing a book of samples to Joseph N. St. Clair, in the store of the Park View Clothing company, Friday noon, Lorenzo D. Sackett of Watervliet, N.Y., a traveling salesman for the William Barker company of that place, died suddenly of heart failure.
     Mr. Sackett was talking pleasantly and cheerfully about his samples when suddenly and without warning he lunged forward and was caught and laid down by Mr. St. Clair, who thought Mr. Sackett was having a fit. He called Dr. Parkhurst and after examining him he pronounced him dead. Selectman Delehanty and Health Officer Acer Lape were afterwards called and the body was removed to the undertaking rooms of the Cahee House Furnishing company, where it was prepared for burial and shipped Saturday morning to his former home in Watervliet.
     Mr. Sackett was 65 years old and is survived by his wife, one son, Ray C. Sackett and a daughter. He had been with the Barkers about 15 years and William Barker, jr., of that firm said he had a letter from him Friday making an appointment with him for Saturday.
