Thomas Morgan, coal miner, of Glamorgan, was born in Llanelli, CarmarthenshireG, about 1787.1 His parents have not been identified. He died aged 65 in Michaelston-super-Avon, GlamorganG,2 and was buried at St Michael's Church, Michaelston-super-AvonG, on 15 June 1853.3 He married say 1815, Margaret ___.

Rev Thomas Morgan, Baptist minister, of Glamorgan, son of Walter Morgan and Jane Michael, was born in Cwmavon, GlamorganG, on 9 March 1850.1,2,3 He died aged 89 in Neath, GlamorganG, on 27 August 19393,4 and was buried at Skewen, GlamorganG, on 1 September 1939.7 He married first at Calvaria Baptist Chapel, Mountain Ash, GlamorganG, on 1 March 1881, Jane "Jennie" Richards, daughter of Thomas Richards and Mary Thomas.1,5,6 She died giving birth to their third child, Walter, in 1885. He married second at St Clears, Carmarthenshire, WalesG, on 11 December 1888, Margaret E Williams.1 Margaret was born in St ClearsG about 1858.8

MORGAN, THOMAS (Afanwyson; 1850–1939), Baptist minister, historian and littêrateur; b. at Cwmafan, 9 March 1850, son of Walter and Jane Morgan and nephew of David Michael (Dewi Afan, q.v.). He entered Pontypool Baptist College in 1875, and was minister successively at Caersalem, Dowlais (1878–95), Ainon, Cardiff (1895–1900) where he was appointed, with Thomas Powel (q.v.), to reorganise the Salusbury library in the University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire, and finally at Skewen from 1900 until his retirement on the completion of fifty years in the ministry. He d. 27 Aug. 1939.
He was president of the Welsh Baptist Union in 1927; president of the East Glamorgan Baptist Association, 1819 , and co-editor of Y Bedyddiwr Bach, 1882, and Yr Heuwr, 1890; he was also secretary of the South Wales Temperance Association for thirty years until 1920. He is probably best remembered, however, for his eisteddfod essays and publications, more especially his collections of place-names and biographies, such as Cofiant y Parch. Walter Morgan, schoolmaster, son of Rev Thomas Morgan and Jane "Jennie" Richards, was born in Dowlais, GlamorganG, on 14 August 1885.1,2 He died aged 69 in Bognor Regis, SussexG, on 1 November 1954.3,4,5 He married in the Tabernacle Chapel, Pontypridd, GlamorganG, on 5 August 1913, Elizabeth Hannah "Lillie" Morgan, daughter of William Morgan and Elizabeth Davies.6,7 They were married by Walter's father, the Revd Thomas Morgan. Walter's mother Jennie died in 1885, shortly after his birth.

Walter Morgan, coal miner, of Glamorgan, son of Thomas Morgan and Margaret ___, was born in Llanelli, CarmarthenshireG, about 1830.1 He died aged 25 in Cwmavon, GlamorganG,2 and was buried at St Michael's Church, Michaelston-super-Avon, GlamorganG, on 26 May 1856.5 He married in NeathG in 1849, Jane Michael, daughter of Rees Michael and Margaret Williams.3,4
In 1841 Walter was living at 13 Wood Row, Michaelston-super-Avon, GlamorganG, in the household of his parents Thomas and Margaret, and was recorded in the census as Walter Morgan, a collier, aged 10 [rounded down] and born not in Glamorgan.6
In 1851 he was living at 20 Pelley Street, Michaelston-super-AvonG, and was recorded as Walter Morgan, a collier, head of household, married, aged 20 and born in Llanelly, Carmarthenshire. Living with him were his wife Jane, aged 21 and also born in Llanelly, and their son Thomas, aged one and born in Michaelston.7

Walter Goronwy Morgan, dental surgeon, son of Walter Morgan and Elizabeth Hannah "Lillie" Morgan, was born in Dewsbury, YorkshireG, on 17 May 1916.1 He died aged 77 in Les Bourgs Hospice, St Andrew's, GuernseyG, on 9 October 1993.2 He married in SurreyG in 1940, Joan Zillah Haysom, daughter of Ralph Haysom and Winifred Elizabeth Palmer.3
