Calvin Burnett Sackett, son of John Hubbert Sackett and Mary Virginia Fussell, was born in Philadelphia, PennsylvaniaG, on 2 November 1899.1 He died aged 70 in New JerseyG on 14 September 19702 and was buried at Arlington National Cemetery, VirginiaG, on 18 September 1970.3 He married first in Staten Island, New York CityG, on 13 June 1924, Maisie C Sanford, daughter of Edward L Sanford and Sophia E Stevens.4,5 Maisie was born in ConnecticutG in about 18976 and died aged 32 in Richmond, Ontario County, New York StateG, on 26 August 1929 (She presumably died before this date as this was the date of Calvin's second marriage. The transcription of the New York City municipal death records, which also incorrectly places Richmond in New York City, may be in error, or this may have been the date on which she was legally presumed dead.)7,8 He married second in Wellsburg, Brooke County, West VirginiaG, on 26 August 1929, Gertrude M Hornbake.9,10 Gertrude was born in Washington, PennsylvaniaG, in about 1909.6,11 Calvin and Gertrude divorced in the 1940s. He married third in Jeffersonville, Clark County, IndianaG, on 25 June 1947, Mary A Briggs, daughter of Joseph N Briggs and Estella Hock.12 Mary was born in PhiladelphiaG on 12 March 1908.11 He married fourth in Augusta, Richmond County, GeorgiaG, on 14 March 1954, Minnie McGee.13 He married fifth Betty M Kenyon. She died in Watertown, Jefferson County, New York StateG, on 20 October 1975.14
     In 1900 Calvin was living at East Montgomery Avenue, Philadelphia, PennsylvaniaG, in the household of his parents John and Mary, and was recorded in the census as Calvin B Sackett, aged six months and born in Pennsylvania.15
     In 1910 he was living at Ferry Road, New Britain, Bucks County, PennsylvaniaG, in the household of his parents John and Mary, and was recorded as Calvin Sackett, aged ten.16
     Calvin served during the First World War in the 1st New York Cavalry, enlisting in Brooklyn on 28 May 1917 and being demobilized on 3 April 1919. He served overseas from May 1918 to March 1919.17,18
     In 1920 he was living at East 209 Street, The Bronx, New York CityG, in the household of his widowed father John, and was recorded as Calvin Sackett, a salesman in a wholesale business, aged 20.19
     In 1927 Calvin and Maisie were living at 116 South 5th, Reading, Berks County, PennsylvaniaG.20
     In 1930 he was living at Waltham Avenue, Dormont, Allegheny County, PennsylvaniaG, and was recorded as Calvin D Sackett, a manager in an insurance business, head of household, aged 30 and born in New York. He rented his home. Living with him were his second wife, Gertrude, 20, and his daughter Betty by his first marriage, aged four.21
     In 1940 he was living at Benedict Place, Hempstead, Nassau County, New York StateG, and was recorded as Calvin Sackett, a self-employed investigator, head of household, aged 40. He owned his home. Living with him were his wife Gertrude, 30, his daughter Elizabeth, 14, by his first marriage, and his and Gertrude's daughter Barbara, aged eight.22
     Calvin served in the US Army during the Second World War. He attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a serving officer at the date of his third marriage in 1947.
