In 1851 he was living at 3 Staffordshire Place, Ramsgate, KentG, in the household of his parents Samuel and Elizabeth, and was recorded as Jacob Sackett, a scholar, aged 11 and born in Ramsgate, Kent.3
Jacob enlisted as a boy entrant for ten years in the Royal Navy, serving from 14 December 1857 on HMS Waterloo.4
Jacob and William Sackett, recorded here as brothers, may have been the same, no records after 1857 being found for Jacob and none before 1861 for William. In particular, no birth record is found for William and no death record for Jacob.
