Lucy L Sackett, daughter of Lieutenant Charles Duncan Sackett and Mary Ann Gordon, was born in McLean County, IllinoisG, on 24 May 1867.1,2,3,4 She died aged 71 in Greenfield, Adair CountyG, on 30 October 1938 and was buried at Greenfield CemeteryG on 2 November 1938.5 She married first in Greenfield, Adair County, IowaG, on 1 January 1889, William C McCrea, son of Porter McCrea and Matilda Bonnett.1,6 William was born in IowaG on 13 February 1859.2,7 He died aged 49 on 19 February 1908 and was buried at Greenfield CemeteryG.7 She married second in Osceola, Clarke County, IowaG, on 9 August 1916, Ernest Funke, son of Ernst Funke and Sophia Siepert.8 Ernest was born in Bodenburg, GermanyG, on 8 April 1847.2,3,9 He died aged 76 in Alhambra, Los Angeles County, CaliforniaG, on 25 December 1923 and was buried at Greenfield Cemetery, IowaG.9
     In 1870 Lucy was living in Padua, McLean County, IllinoisG, in the household of her parents Charles and Mary, and was recorded in the census as Lucy Sackett, aged three and born in Illinois.10
     In 1880 Lucy was living at Grove, Adair County, IowaG, and was recorded in the census as Lucy Sackett, a schoolgirl, aged 13, born in Illinois, daughter of Charles Sackett.11
     In 1900 she was living in Grove, Adair County, IowaG, in the household of her husband William C McCrae, 41, a farmer, and was recorded as Lucy McCrae, aged 32. They owned their home free of mortgage. Living with them were their children, Bessie, 10, Boyd, 8, and Ione, aged one.12
     In 1910 she was living at East Stella Street, Greenfield, Adair County, IowaG, and was recorded as Lucy L McCrea, head of household, a widow, aged 42. She owned her home free of mortgage. Her children, Bessie, 20, Boyd, 18, and Ione, aged eleven, were living with her.13
     In 1920 she was living at South Marguerita Avenue, Alhambra, Los Angeles County, CaliforniaG, in the household of her second husband Ernest Funke, 72, and was recorded as Lucy L Funke, aged 52. Lucy's unmarried daughter Ione McCrea, 21, was living with them.14

Ernest Funke Laid to Rest – Funeral for Pioneer Resident Held at ME Church Here Tuesday – Funeral Services for Ernest Funke, 77 years of age who died at his home in Alhambra CA Wednesday morning December 26 at 3:30 o'clock were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Greenfield Methodist church. The Rev WH Meredith had charge of the services. Death followed a stroke of apoplexy. Interment was made in the Greenfield cemetery. Those who acted pall bearers: JS Barr, Gus Faber, JG Montgomery, GW Van Camp SY Cornell and LD Beatty. Ernest Funke was born in Hanover, Germany, April 8, 1847 and died at his home in Alhambra Californian December 23, 1923 at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 17 days. At the age of seventeen years he came to America and secured employment in New York City, where he remained for two years. He moved to Mendota, Illinois in 1866 and resided for five years. He came to Iowa in 1871 and made his home on a farm west of Greenfield where he lived for twenty two years, moving to a farm adjoining Greenfield in 1893. In 1874 he was united in marriage to Miss Katherine Erbes. To this union were born seven sons and seven daughters all of whom survive him. After coming to Adair County he and his wife with four others in 1876 founded the Anita Mission Evangelical church in Prussia Township, December 21, 1907 the wife and mother passed away. Mr. Funke moved to Alhambra California in 1909. He was united in marriage in 1916 to Mrs. Lucy McCrea of Greenfield. Mr. Funke took a keen interest in the affairs of the community. He was active for many years in the work of the Adair County Fair association and the rearing of thoroughbred livestock. The deceased had a stroke of apoplexy September 16th and was recovering nicely until December 17th when he became ill with flu and bronchial pneumonia from which he did not recover. He is survived by his wife, fourteen children and sixteen grandchildren. Seven children reside in California: At Alhambra Mrs. Mary Stewart, Miss Emma, John, Arthur and Harry; Los Angeles, The Misses Clara and Nellie. St Louis, Missouri, Mrs. Lizzie Petry and Miss Gertrude, Naperville, IL, Mrs. Lena Gamertsfelter; in the vicinity of Greenfield, Ben, Henry, Phillip, and Frank and families.
