Lemuel Sackett, son of Russel Sackett and Polly Brass, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 27 May 1821.1,2 He died there on 22 November 1857 at the age of 362 and was buried in the Pine Hill Cemetery, WestfieldG. He married at the First Church, SpringfieldG, on 25 June 1849, Lydia Chapman, daughter of Asa Chapman and Lucretia ___.3,4,5,6,7 She was born in Westfield, MassachusettsG, in December 1824.8 Lydia married second in Westfield, on an unknown date , Hiram K Caswell, son of Hiram Caswell and Lucinda ___.9,10
     In 1850 Lemuel was living in WestfieldG and was recorded in the census as Lemuel Sacket, a mason, aged 29, and born in Massachusetts. Living with him were his wife Lydia, aged 28, and born in Massachusetts, and their four-month-old son Samuel.11
     In 1860 Lemuel's widow Lydia was living in WestfieldG and was recorded in the census as Lydia Sacket, a washerwoman, aged 40, and born in Massachusetts. Living with her was her daughter Fanny, aged two.12
     In 1870 she was living in WestfieldG in the household of her husband Hiram, 37, and was recorded as Liddie Caswell, keeping house, aged 46 and born in Massachusetts. Living with them was their son, Hiram Caswell, 8, and Lydia's daughters, Fanny Sackett, 12, and Sophia Sackett, 17.13
     In 1880 she was living in Greenwich, Hampshire County, MassachusettsG, in the household of her second husband Hiram Caswell, a farm laborer, and was recorded as Lydia Caswell, housekeeper, aged 58 and born in Massachusetts.14
     In 1900 she was living in GreenwichG in the household of her husband Hiram, and was recorded as Lydia Caswell, born in Massachusetts in December 1824, aged 75, married 40 years, with six children of whom three were living.15
