Lieutenant Daniel Sackett, son of William Sackett and Anna Lawrence, was born in Newtown, Long Island, New York StateG, on 29 March 17591 and baptized at the Presbyterian Church, NewtownG, on 13 May 1759.2 He died aged 62 in Old Milford, New Haven County, ConnecticutG, on 7 January 18221,3 and was buried at Milford Center CemeteryG.4 He married in MilfordG on 16 June 1782, Martha Green.5,1 Martha was born in about 1760.6 She would have been the "old" Mrs Sackett who died in MilfordG on 1 December 1842.7
     Daniel Sackett served in the American Revolutionary War. On 1 July 1780 he was a Lieutenant in the 1st Regiment, New York Levies.8,9
     The death on 8 April 1789 of a negro boy belonging to Daniel Sackett is recorded in the Milford vital records.10
     In 1790 Daniel was living in Milford, New Haven County, ConnecticutG. In his household were one white adult male, two white females, and one slave.11
     Daniel's wife Martha was admitted to the First Congregational Church, MilfordG, on 25 July 1790. She transferred her membership on 27 May 1810 to the Second Church in Milford.12,13
     Daniel was named as a beneficiary in his father's will made in Newtown, Long IslandG, on 7 June 1798. He was left the farm in Milford, Connecticut, where he was already established.14
     Daniel was listed in the census in 1800, 1810 and 1820 as a householder in MilfordG.15,16,17
     In 1830 and 1840, Daniel's widow Martha was recorded living alone in MilfordG. She was aged 80 in 1840.18,19
     Martha was listed in the 1841 census of Revolutionary War pensioners. At the reference date of 1 June 1840, she was living in MilfordG and was aged 80.20

389. Lieut. Daniel Sackett, 1759–1822, of Newtown, L. I., and Old Milford, Conn., son of (122) William and Anne Lawrence Sackett, was married to Martha Green. He died at Old Milford, leaving no descendants. In the war of the Revolution he was Lieutenant of Capt. Livingston's Company, of Colonel Malcomb's Regiment.
