Funeral from the family residence, 69 Chester st., Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Friends are invited to attend. Burial at convenience of the family. Interment in Forest Lawn.

Deaths and Funerals.
     Mrs. Helen A. Curdy, wife of W. W. Curdy, and formerly prominent in the women's clubs of Topeka, died at her home in Kansas City yesterday. Since moving to Kansas City, Mrs. Curdy has become a member of the Athenaeum and was at the head of the philosophy and science department. She was 72 years old. Her husband is a dry goods merchant in Kansas City, Kan., but the home was at 3644 Troost avenue. Three sons also survive. They are Albert E. Curdy, instructor in Yale university; Dr. Robert J. Curdy, Kansas City oculist, and William S. Curdy, a New York publisher.

     The funeral of Mrs. Helen A. Curdy, who died yesterday morning at her home at 3644 Troost Avenue, will be at the home at 3 o'clock this afternoon. Burial will be at Tainesville, 0. Mrs. Curdy was born in Tainesville [sic: Painesville].

Mrs. W. Ada Spaulding.
Widow Of Former Mayor Of Loveland Was 95.
     Services for Mrs. W. Ada Spaulding, widow of C. P. Spaulding, former Mayor of Loveland, and daughter of Russell Sackett, first Postmaster of Los Angeles, Calif., will be held Monday at the Tufts funeral home, Loveland.
     Mrs. Spaulding, who was 95 years old, died yesterday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. C. A. Green, 4610 Main Avenue, Norwood, with whom she had lived for 15 years.
     Her father participated in the California gold rush of 1849, and later founded Sackett Wells, a California health resort. While her father was in California, Mrs. Spaulding lived with her mother and family in Maysville, N.Y.
     In 1875 Mrs. Spaulding settled in Loveland, Ohio. Her husband was Mayor in the 1880's. She outlived her husband and all but two of her nine children.
     Surviving her, besides Mrs. Green, are a son, Ray Spaulding, Los Angeles, 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Eighty Years or More.
Mr. Orville Sackett
     On Monday evening Mr. Orville Sackett was guest of honor at a family dinner party given by his daughter, Mrs. Richard Mason, 701 Orchard Parkway, Niagara Falls N.Y. on the occasion of his ninety-second birthday.
     Hard work and total abstinence from worry are two essential factors in a long, healthy and happy life, enjoyed by Mr. Sackett, who despite his advancing years maintains a lively interest in world affairs and community interests.
     He was born in Williamsville N.Y., the only son of Russell Sackett who participated in the gold rush of '49, and failed to find nuggets but struck a number of water holes on the San Diego desert now known as "Sackett Wells". He has lived in Niagara Falls, N.Y. since 1871 and has a wide acquaintance among railroad men and firemen on both sides of the border.
     For more than fifty-six years Mr. Sackett made daily morning trips across the Lower Arch bridge spanning the Niagara River at the throttle of an engine which he backed into the Canadian National Railway yards to switch cars. He remained in active service until he was 80 years old.
     His career as a fireman dates back to the early days of the Suspension village. He was elected Chief of the Village fire department in 1884, 1886 and 1888 and later was foreman of the Rapids host company. He was elected chief engineer for the Niagara Falls N.Y. fire department in 1904 and six years later was appointed a police commissioner. For six years he served, by appointment, on the Board of Education for the Village of Suspension Bridge and for three years after the municipality became a part of Niagara Falls. He was deputy sheriff for the Erie railroad for three years. He is now a member of the Exempt firemen and attends all their outings.
     Probably the experience during his entire life which gave Mr. Sacket the greatest thrill was serving as an escort with Company B of the 74th regiment to the bodyguard which accompanied the body of the late President Abraham Lincoln of the United States when it was transferred from the train to St. James Hall, Buffalo, where it lay in state.

Orville Sackett, Well Known Retired Railwayman, Passes
Veteran engineer dies at Falls, N.Y., in his 93rd year; widely known
     Niagara Falls. N.Y., Nov. 21.—Orville R. Sackett, one of the city's oldest and most highly esteemed residents, died yesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. C. Mason, 701 Orchard parkway. He was 92 years old and had been ill about six weeks.
     Mr. Sackett was born in Williamsville on September 23, 1848, but spent the greater part of his life in Niagara Falls. He served the Erie railroad as an engineer for 61 years before retiring at the age of 80. He was a member of the Niagara Falls Exempt Firemen's association and was widely known for his intimate knowledge of early days on the Niagara frontier.
     Besides his daughter, he is survived by two grand children, Mrs. Ralph Gallinger and Richard S. Mason, of this city, and a sister, Mrs. Ada Spaulding, of Norwood, Ohio.
     Funeral services will be held at Mrs. Mason's home at 3 p.m. Friday.

Sackett Funeral Thursday
     Niagara Falls, Jan. 4.—Services for Mrs. Josephine Eva Sackett, 78, wife of Orville R. Sackett, 701 Orchard parkway, will be held in the home Thursday at 2:30 P. M. Mrs. Sackett was one of the best known women of the city. She was born in North Tonawanda but had lived here 75 years. Her father, the late Amassa Attwood, was owner and proprietor of the old Western hotel in Suspension Bridge. Besides her husband, Mrs. Sackett leaves a daughter, Mrs. Clarence Mason; a sister, Mrs. Walter P. Horne and two grandchildren, Virginia E. and Richard S. Mason.
