Charles Edgar Sackett, son of Charles Edgar Sackett and Amelia Bell, was born in Greenwich, Fairfield County, ConnecticutG, on 16 January 1883.1,2 He died aged 70 at home in Spring City, Chester County, PennsylvaniaG, on 5 March 1953 and was buried at Valley Forge Gardens, King of Prussia, Montgomery County, PennsylvaniaG.2,4 He married in Port Chester, Westchester County, New York StateG, on 4 April 1912, Elizabeth J "Lila" Wilson, daughter of Joseph Wilson and Fanny Bircham.3 Elizabeth was born in Port ChesterG about 1891.5 She died in Oaks, Montgomery County, PennsylvaniaG, on 2 August 1963.6
In 1905 Charles was living in Rye, Westchester County, New York StateG, in the household of his parents Charles and Amelia, and was recorded in the census as Charles Sackett Jr, a machinist, aged 22.7
In 1910 he was living at Willett Avenue, RyeG, in the household of his parents Charles and Amelia, and was recorded as Charles E Sackett, a driver at a fish market, aged 27.8
Charles was listed in the Port Chester City Directory in 1912. He was a driver, living at 7 Bush Avenue, Port ChesterG, with his father Charles E Sackett.9
Charles completed a World War I draft registration card on 12 September 1918. He was aged 35 and was a drill press hand at Heine Safety Boiler Company. He was living at 228 Hall Street, Phoenixville, Chester County, PennsylvaniaG, with his wife Lila.10
In 1920 he was living at Hall Street, PhoenixvilleG, and was recorded as Charles E Sackett, a lead miner, head of household, aged 36. Living with him were his wife Eliza, 27, and their children, Charles, 6, Beatrice, 5, and William, aged three.11
In 1930 he was living at Schuylkill Road, East Vincent, Chester CountyG, and was recorded as Charles E Sackett, a watchman on the railroad, head of household, aged 75 [actually 47]. Living with him were his wife Eliza, 38, and their children, Charles, 17, Beatrice, 15, William, 13, Frances, 9, and Donald, aged four months.12
In 1940 he was living at Hall Street, Spring, Chester CountyG, and was recorded as Charles E Sackett, a watchman on the railroad, head of household, aged 57. He owned his home. Living with him were his wife Eliza, 48, and their children, [Charles] Edgar, 27, William, 23, Frances, 19, and Donald, aged ten.13

Oaks Woman Dies At Age 71
Mrs. Elizabeth J. (Wilson) Sackett, 71, widow of Charles E. Sackett, High street, Oaks, died Friday after an illness of two years.
She was born in Port Chester, N. Y., daughter of the late Joseph and Fannie Bircham Wilson, and lived in the area since 1915. Her husband died in 1953.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Naylor, Germantown; three sons, Charles E. Sackett, Oaks, with whom she lived; William L. Sackett, 306 New street, Royersford; Donald L. Sackett, Richmond, Va; a sister, Mrs. Francis Fisher, Wingdale, N. Y; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will he tomorrow at 11 a. m. from the Campbell Funeral home, 610 Main street, Phoenixville, with interment in Valley Forge gardens.
Members of Oaks Fire company auxiliary of which she was a member will meet at the fire house at 7:30 p. m., Monday, to attend the viewing.
