Hazel May Sackett, daughter of James Arthur Sackett and Zoa Belle Wolff, was born in Tecumseh, Lenawee County, MichiganG, on 6 January 1927.1,2 She died aged 79 in North Adams, Hillsdale County, MichiganG, on 9 June 2006.1,2,3 She married first in Osseo, Hillsdale County, MichiganG, on 20 September 1943, Lawrence Edwin Whetstone, son of Frank E Whetstone and Faye E Korsts.4 Lawrence was born in OsseoG on 2 May 1917.5,6 He died on 29 November 1999.6,7 She married second in 1976, Benjamin Aaron Gamble, son of Jesiah Franklin Gamble and Maude Crudell.3 Benjamin was born in Blue Island, Cook County, IllinoisG, on 2 August 1914.3 He died aged 86 in Adrian, Lenawee County, MichiganG, on 13 September 2000 and was buried at Pleasant View Union Cemetery, Fayette, Fulton County, OhioG.3,8
     In 1930 Hazel was living at Manum Road, Madison, Lenawee County, MichiganG, in the household of her mother Zoa, and was recorded in the census as Hazel M Sackett, aged three and born in Michigan.9
     In 1940 she was living at Moscow Road, Moscow, Hillsdale County, MichiganG, in the household of her mother Zoa and stepfather Joseph Johns, and was recorded as Hazel Sackett, aged 13.10

Hazel M. Gamble, of North Adams, passed away June 9, 2006 at her home at the age of 79. She was born Jan. 6, 1927, the daughter of James and Zoa (Wolfe) Sackett.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Lawrence Whetstone and Benjamin Gamble; one son, Jerry Whetstone; brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Betty (James) Gamble, Daniel Whetstone, Virginia (Robert) Handy and Kristina (Ronald) Matrisch; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Lillian Purdy of Bronson and two brothers, Minion (Sandy) Johns of Reading and Paul Sackett of Hillsdale.
     Mrs. Gamble had attended Bible Baptist Church in North Adams.
     A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Hazel M. Gamble will be held at the Hampton-Kurtz Funeral Home in North Adams on Monday, June 12 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Pickell officiating. Interment will take place in the Northlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, June 11 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Benjamin A. "Ben" Gamble, 86, of North Adams, formerly of Munson and Fayette, Ohio, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Bixby Medical Center in Adrian. He retired in 1976 after 35 years as a machine operator for Norfolk & Western (Wabash) Railroad. Surviving are his wife, Hazel; five sons, James, Wayne, Clifford, William and Daniel; two daughters, Virginia Handy and Kristina Lee; two brothers, Howard and Herbert Gambler; a sister, Mable Johnson; 20 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Violet, in 1972; a daughter, Mary Alice Gambler; a stepdaughter, Darlene Miller; and one great-grandchild. Arrangements are by Kurtz-Towns Funeral Homes, 116 S. Hillsdale, North Adams.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Benjamin A. "Ben" Gamble, were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Kurtz-Towns Funeral Homes of North Adams, with Pastor Russell Payne officiating. Burial was at Pleasant View Union Cemetery.
     Benjamin A. "Ben" Gamble, 86, of North Adams, formerly from the Munson and Fayette, Ohio, area, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at Bixby Medical Center in Adrian.
