Charles M Sackett, son of Ezekiel H Sackett and Ellen Wilkinson, was born in Wayne County, MichiganG, in about 1877.1,2 He died aged 33 at home at 552 South Gless Street, Los Angeles, CaliforniaG, on 3 November 19103 and was buried at Calvary Cemetery, Los AngelesG.4 He married at Los Angeles, CaliforniaG, on 7 August 1901, Minnie M Maloney, daughter of Mary A ___.5 Minnie was born in CaliforniaG in about 1885.6 After Charles's death, Minnie married William S Givens by whom she had a son, Joe in about 1915.
In 1880 Charles was living in Detroit, MichiganG, in the household of his father Ezekiel and stepmother Ines, and was recorded in the census as Charles Sackett, aged four and born in Michigan.7
Charles enlisted for two years as a corporal in Company E, 7th Infantry, at Los AngelesG on 5 May 1898. His civilian occupation was butcher.8
In 1910 Charles was living at 552 South Gless Street, Los Angeles, CaliforniaG, and was recorded in the census as Charles M Sackett, a boiler maker in an iron works, head of household, aged 37 and born in Michigan. He rented his home. Living with him were his wife Minnie, 24, their children, Lester, 7, Carl, 6, Vira, 4, and Leona, aged one, and Minnie's widowed mother Mary Maloney, 52.9
In 1920 Charles's widow Minnie was living at South Gless Street, Los AngelesG, in the household of her husband William S Givens, 45, a carpenter on the railroad, and was recorded in the census as Minnie Givens, a forelady in a factory, aged 39. Living with them were William's daughter Neva, 16, William and Minnie's son Joe, aged four, Minnie's children, Carl, 16, Lester, 18, Josephine, 14, and Leona, aged eleven, and Minnie's widowed mother Mary Maloney, aged 62.10
