Harry Cyril Simms, son of James Simms and Amelia Violet Muriel Sackett, was born in Canterbury, KentG, on 19 May 1919.1,2 He died aged 83 in St Albans, HertfordshireG, in July 2002.3 He married in St AlbansG in 1942, Phyllis M Lloyd.4
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Harry was living at 48 Heath Road, St Albans, HertfordshireG, in the household of his widowed mother Amelia. He was then aged 20 and was employed as a resistance transformer and coil minder.5
