Richard Sackett, son of Colonel Caleb H Sackett and Jane McMaster, was born in Tioga County, New York StateG, in about 1807.1 He married in about 1830, Elsie Eighmay.1,2 Elsie was born in New York StateG in about 1812.3
     Richard was listed in the 1830 census as a householder in Amity, Allegany County, New York StateG.4 In 1840 he was a householder in Candor, Tioga County, New York StateG.5
     In 1850 Richard was living in Crete, Will County, IllinoisG, and was recorded in the census as Richard Sackett, a farmer, aged 43 and born in New York. Living with him were his wife Elsie, 38, and theri children, John, 19, Sarah, 16, Richard H, 14, Charles, 12, Mariah, 8, and Franklin, aged four.6
     In 1860 he was living in Amity, Allegany County, New York StateG, and was recorded as R Sacket, a farmer, aged 53. Living with him were his wife Elisa, 48, and their children, Sarah, 26, Henry, 24, Mariah, 18, Franklin, 14, William, 9, and Mary, aged six.7
     In 1880 he was living in Westchester, Porter County, IndianaG, and was recorded as Richard Sackett, a farmer, head of household, aged 72. Living with him were his wife, Elsie, 69, and their unmarried children, Charles, 42, Jane, 40, Frank, 33, and William, 26, and their granddaughter Eva Brown, aged eight.8
