Gerald Martin Sackett, son of Vincent Eli John Sackett and Kathleen Martha Elizabeth Kirk-Jones, was born in Rawal Pindi, Bengal, IndiaG, on 29 October 19281,2 and baptized there in 1928.3 He died aged about 75 in Taunton, Somerset, EnglandG, in October 2003.4 He married first in Bathavon, SomersetG, on 30 December 1950, Margaret Irene Long, daughter of Richard Long and Winifred Coombs.1,5,6 Margaret was born on 16 March 19327,8 and died aged 39 in Weston-super-Mare, SomersetG, in 1972.9 He married second in Bristol, Gloucestershire, EnglandG, on 18 November 1978, Minnie E R Matthews.1,10,11
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Gerald was a schoolboy, living at 16 Albert Villas, BristolG, with his parents.12 His future wife Margaret was a schoolgirl, living at 26 St George's Road, Keynsham, SomersetG, with her parents Richard and Winifred.13
