Henry Sackett, house decorator of Ramsgate, Kent, son of Edward Sackett and Sarah Sage, was born in Thanet, KentG, on 10 August 1841.1 He died aged 79 at home at 11 Queen Bertha Road, Ramsgate, KentG, on 8 October 1920.2,3 He married first at Ramsgate Christ ChurchG on 24 September 1864, Mary Ann Elizabeth Allen.4,5 She was born on 26 June 1841 and died aged 72 in Steyning, SussexG, in 1913.6 He married second in ThanetG in 1913, Cordelia Agnes Summerford.7,8 She was born in Clapham, LondonG, in about 1862.9 She died aged 60 at home at 11 Queen Bertha Road, RamsgateG, on 10 February 1922.10,3
In 1851 Henry was living at 34 Addington Place, RamsgateG, and was recorded in the census as Henry Sackett, aged 9, and born at St. Lawrence, son of Edward Sackett.11
In 1861 he was living at 7 Spencer Square, RamsgateG, and was recorded as Henry Sackett, a painter, unmarried, aged 19 and born at St Lawrence, son of Edward Sackett.12
In 1871 he was living at 86 Queen Street, RamsgateG, and was recorded as Henry Sackett, a painter, head of household, married, aged 29, and born in Ramsgate. Living with him were his wife Mary, aged 29, and born in Lambeth, and their children, George, 5, Harry, 4, Richard, 3, and Frederick, aged five months. Also in the household were a female general servant and a female nurse.13
Henry was a Freemason, joining the Lewises Lodge, RamsgateG, on 9 February 1876.14
In 1881 he was living at the House Decor Shop, 86 Queen Street, Ramsgate, KentG, and was recorded as Henry Sackett, a house decorator employing seven men and four boys, head of household, married, aged 39 and born in Ramsgate. Living with him were his wife Mary, 39, and their children, George, 15, Henry, 14, Richard, 12, Frederick, 11, Florence, 8, Ellen, 6, and Ernest, aged three. Also in the household was a female general domestic servant.15
In 1891 he was living at 86 Queen Street, RamsgateG, and was recorded as Henry Sackett, a house decorator, head of household, married, aged 49, and born in Ramsgate. Living with him were his children, Florence, 18, Ernest, 13, and Allen, aged nine. Also in the household was a boarder, Cordelia A Summerford, 29, later to become his second wife.16
In 1901 he was living at 86 Queen Street, RamsgateG, and was recorded as Henry Sackett, a decorator & builder, an employer, head of household, aged 59. Also in the household were his son Alexander, 19, and Cordelia Summerford, 37.17
In 1901 Henry's estranged wife Mary was living at 29 Goldstone Villas, Hove, SussexG, and was listed as Mary Sackett, head of household, married, aged 59, living on her own means. Her unmarried daughter Helen, 25, was living with her.18
In 1911 he was living at 86 Queen Street, RamsgateG, and was recorded as Henry Sackett, a decorator and builder, an employer, head of household, aged 69 and born in Ramsgate. Cordelia Agnes Summerford, 48, was also in the household.19
Henry left a will which was proved on 4 November 1920 by his widow Cordelia. His estate was valued at £5,202.20
In 1921 Henry's widow Cordelia was living at 11 Queen Bertha Road, St Lawrence in ThanetG, and was recorded in the census as Cordelia Agnes Sackett, a widow, head of household, aged 56.21
Henry's widow Cordelia left a will which was proved in LondonG on 21 April 1922. Her estate was valued at £808.22

In 1861 he was living at 7 Spencer Square, RamsgateG, and was recorded as Henry Sackett, a painter, unmarried, aged 19 and born at St Lawrence, son of Edward Sackett.12
In 1871 he was living at 86 Queen Street, RamsgateG, and was recorded as Henry Sackett, a painter, head of household, married, aged 29, and born in Ramsgate.
