Dorothy Annie Sackett, daughter of Thomas Sackett and Annie Ward, was born in Hove, SussexG, in 19041,2 and baptized at St Andrew, HoveG, on 21 August 1904.3 She married at St Barnabus, HoveG, on 15 August 1936, Herbert Walter Galpin Cox, son of Walter Galpin Cox.4,5,6 Herbert was born in about 1908.7
     In 1911 Dorothy was living at 36 Landseer Road, HoveG, in the household of her parents Thomas and Annie, and was recorded in the census as Dorothy Annie Sackett, aged six and born in Hove.8
     In 1921 she was living at 36 Landseer Road, HoveG, in the household of her widowed mother Annie, and was recorded as Dorothy Sackett, a domestic servant in private service, aged 17.9
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Herbert and Dorothy were living at 36 Landseer Road, HoveG. Herbert was a painter engineer. Dorothy's widowed mother Annie was living with them.10
