Howard Prentice Sackett, son of George Sackett and Catherine Burmaster, was born in Irving, Chautauqua County, New York StateG, on 18 August 1879.1,2,3 He married Pearl Gilpin. Howard and Pearl were divorced sometime before 1940 and Pearl subsequently married Howard's brother, Clayton.4
     In 1880 Howard was living at Irving, Chautauqua County, New York StateG, and was recorded in the census as Howard Sacket, aged nine months and born in New York. He was living with his parents George and Catherine in the household of George's parents Hiram and Millicent.5
     In 1900 he was living in Hanover, Chautauqua CountyG, in the household of his parents George and Catherine, and was recorded as Howard Sackett, a farm laborer (presumably on his father's farm), aged 21, single, and born in New York.6
     In 1910 he was living in Brant Town, Erie County, New York StateG, and was recorded as Howard Sackett, a machinist in a locomotive works, head of household, married six years, aged 31 and born in New York. The family home was rented. Living with him were his wife Pearl, 22, and their son Lawrence, aged four.7
     Howard completed a World War I draft registration card on 12 September 1918. He was aged 39 and was a self-employed farmer. He was living at Clymer, Chautauqua County, New York StateG, with his wife Pearl.8
     In 1920 he was living in Ellery, Chautauqua County, New York StateG, and was recorded as P Howard Sackett, a dairy farmer, head of household, married, aged 40 and born in New York. He owned the family home on a mortgage. Living with him were his wife Pearl, 32, and their sons, Lawrence, 13, and Nelson, aged nine.9
     In 1930 he was living at Irving Village, Hanover, Chautauqua County, New York StateG, in the household of his widowed mother Catherine, and was recorded as Howard Sackett, a machinist, married, aged 45. His son Nelson, 19, was living with him.10
     Howard completed a World War II draft registration card on 26 April 1942. He was aged 62, employed by the American Locomotive Company, and he was living in HanoverG. Next of kin was his sister Nellie, of the same address.11
