John F Sackett, son of Rolin Sackett and Pamelia (___) Chamberlin, was born in PennsylvaniaG in 1844.1 He died aged about 18 in Crawford County, PennsylvaniaG, on 4 March 1863 from disease contracted in the Army1 and was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, East Meade Township, Crawford CountyG.2
In 1850 John was living at Mead Township, Crawford County, PennsylvaniaG, in the household of his parents Rolin and Pamelia, and was recorded in the census as John Sackett, aged six and born in Pennsylvania.3
In 1860 he was living in Meadville, Crawford CountyG, in the household of his parents Rolin and Pamelia, and was recorded as John Sacket, a farm laborer, aged 16.4 John appears to have been enumerated twice in the 1860 census, also being listed as John Sacket, aged 16, in the household of John and Elisabeth Ellis.5
John served in the Civil War as a private soldier in the 111th Regiment of Pennsylvania Infantry, enlisting on 22 November 1861 and being discharged on medical grounds on 20 January 1863.2
