Dewey Sylvester Sackett, son of Daniel Webster Sackett and Lua Louisa Burdick, was born in Hadley, Pike County, IllinoisG, on 11 July 1897.1,2 He died aged 63 in Quincy, Adams County, IllinoisG, on 11 February 19612 and was buried at Sunset Cemetery, QuincyG.3
In 1900 Dewey was living in Hadley, Pike County, IllinoisG, in the household of his parents Daniel and Lua, and was recorded in the census as Dewey S Sackett, aged two and born in Illinois.4
In 1910 he was living in HadleyG in the household of his parents Daniel and Lua, and was recorded as Dewey S Sackett, aged twelve.5
Dewey completed a World War I draft registration card on 24 August 1918. He was then aged 21 and was living at Baylis, Pike County, IllinoisG. He was employed on the family farm.6
In 1920 he was living in HadleyG in the household of his widowed father Daniel, and was recorded as Dewey S Sackett, a section hand on the railroad, aged 22, single.7
Dewey served in the US Army during the Second World War, enlisting at Peoria, IllinoisG, on 5 November 1942.8
