Mathew Dunham Sackett, son of Amos Sackett and Lucinda Knickerbocker, was born in New York StateG on 30 March 1829.1 He died in Scotch Grove, Jones County, IowaG, on 18 August 1896.1 He married first at Sandstone, Jackson County, MichiganG, on 8 April 1850, Lois Louise Sackett, daughter of Hiram Sackett and Anna Jones.2 Mathew and Lois were first cousins. He married second in Jones County, IowaG, on 4 February 1863, Nancy Ann Ennis, daughter of John Ennis and Winifred G "Winnie" ___.2 Nancy was born in Marion County, IndianaG, on 16 April 18453 and died aged 81 in Monticello, Jones County, IowaG, on 20 September 1926.3
In 1880 Mathew was living in Scotch Grove, IowaG, and was recorded in the census as Mathew Sackett, a farmer, head of household, married, aged 50 and born in New York. Living with him were his wife Nancy, 36, and their children, Amos, 14, Martha, 10, Hattie, 8, Mathew, 5, and Clarance, aged two.4
