William Sackett, son of Aaron Sacket and Phebe Hart, was born in ConnecticutG on 2 September 1800.1,2,3 He died aged 62 in Logansport, Cass County, IndianaG, on 29 July 1863.1,4 He married in VermontG on 3 September 1828, Mercy Sleade Earle.1 Mercy was born in VermontG in 1808.2,4 She died aged about 59 in 1867.4
William was listed in the 1840 census as a householder in Eden, LaGrange County, IndianaG.5
In 1850 William was living in Eden, LaGrange County, IndianaG, and was recorded in the census as Wm Sackett, a farmer, aged 50 and born in Connecticut. Living with him were his wife Mary (Mercy), 41, and their children, John, 16, George, 14, Stephen, 8, and Eliza, aged six.6
In 1860 he was living in EdenG and was recorded as William Sackett, a farmer, aged 60. Living with him were his wife Mercy, 49, and their children, John, 25, George, 23, Stephen, 18, and Emma (Eliza), aged 16.7

12720. William Sackett, 1800–1863, son of (714?) Aaron, was born near Rutland, Vt; was married, Sept. 3, 1828, to Mercy Sleade Earle, 1808–1867, a distant relative. In 1839 he removed to Rochester, N.Y., and the following year from thence to Eden Township, La Grange County, Ind, where he settled permanently, on what has since become known as the Sackett Homestead Farm.

William Sackett
Brother of Charles Sackett and son of Aaron Sackett and his wife, Phebe Hart Sackett. He was born at Litchfield, Connecticut on September 2, 1800. He was married September 3, 1828, to Mercy Sleade Earle, 1808–1867, a distant relative. In 1839, he removed to Rochester, N.Y. and the following year from thence to Eden Township, La Grange County, Indiana, where he settled permanently on what has since become known as the Sackett Homestead Farm. According to his grandson, Schuyler Sackett of Ligonier, Indiana, family lore has it that his wife was quite well-to-do whereas he inherited no money or property at all. He judges that this is true because of the fact that she left a quantity of excellent old furniture and so on which could only have been owned by someone who had means in those pioneer days. Apparently this led to some friction in the family. There was nothing overt but one day William, when he was in his forties, quietly walked out of the house and his family never saw him again. They did learn that he died at Logansport, Indiana in 1864.
