Darius Parmalee Sackett, son of Deacon Clark Sackett and Laura Melissa Akins, was born in OhioG in about 1845.1,2 He married on 15 January 1874, Emma Chittenden Fitch, daughter of Rev Andrew Fitch and Cornelia Chittenden.3
     In 1850 Darius was living in TallmadgeG in the household of his father Clark and stepmother Jane, and was recorded in the census as Darius Sackett, aged eight and born in Ohio.4
     In 1860 he was living in GeneseoG in the household of his sister Cynthia and brother-in-law Martin Luther Heath, and was recorded as Darius Sackett, aged 19 and born in Ohio.5
     In 1880 Darius was living in Oakland, Alameda County, CaliforniaG, and was recorded in the census as D P Sackett, a school principal, aged 35 and born in Ohio. Living with him were his wife Emma, 30, and their daughter Winifred, aged five. There were five schoolboys in the household, described as sons but presumably pupils at Darius's school. Also in the household were two Chinese male servants.6
