William James Sackett, a master plasterer, son of Herbert Sackett and Mary Jane Ashby, was born in Canterbury, KentG, on 28 September 1911.1,2,3 He died there aged 88 in June 2000.4 He married in Canterbury, KentG, in 1937, Mabel Evelyn Clifford, daughter of Cyril Claude Clifford and Edith Mills.5,6 Mabel was born in Dartford, KentG, on 20 February 19177,8 and died aged 75 in Canterbury, KentG, in 1992.9
In 1921 William was living at 52 Wincheap Street, CanterburyG, in the household of his parents Herbert and Mary, and was recorded in the census as William James Sackett, aged ten and born in Canterbury.10
At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, William was living at 2 Prickle Lane, Canterbury, KentG. He was a plasterer. One of three closed records was probably that of his wife Mabel. They were living in the household of Mabel's father Cyril Clifford.11
