John Dawson Sackett, son of Gilbert "Bertie" Sackett and Mabel Agnes Dawson, was born in Thanet, KentG, on 22 October 19141,2 and died there aged 77 on 29 December 1991.3,4 He married in ThanetG on 25 September 1942, Lillian Kate Adams.3,5,6 Lillian was born in ThanetG on 21 February 19157,2 and died there aged about 62 in 1977.8
     In 1921 John was living at 8 Salisbury Avenue, Ramsgate, KentG, in the household of his parents Gilbert and Mabel, and was recorded in the census as John Dawson Sackett, aged six.9
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, John was a van driver, living at 8 Salisbury Avenue, RamsgateG, with his mother (Mabel) Agnes, sister Olive and twin brother Stanley. John's future wife Lillian was a dairy clerk, living at 38 Duncan Road, Ramsgate, in the household of George and Sarah Aubrey.10,11
