Rev Walter Sackett, Wesleyan Methodist minister, son of Jeremiah Sackett and Sarah File, was born in Barham, KentG, in 1865.1,2 Walter died aged 59 at St Bartholomew's Hospital, Smithfield, LondonG, on 21 March 1924 from a bacterial infection3,4 and was buried at Hanwell Cemetery, Ealing, MiddlesexG, on 25 March 1924.5 Walter's son Herbert, a surgeon who was treating him, died on the same day as Walter after he, too, became infected. They were buried together.6,7 Walter married in Wirral, CheshireG, in 1891, Emma Leyland Sandford.8 She was born in Liverpool, LancashireG, in about 1864.2 She died aged about 73 at home at 16 Grosvenor Avenue, West Kirby, CheshireG, on 13 December 1937.9,4
     In 1871 Walter was living at Townland Green, Woodchurch, KentG, in the household of his parents Jeremiah and Sarah, and was recorded in the census as Walter Sackett, aged six and born in Barham, Kent.10
     In 1892 Walter was living at Little Sutton, CheshireG, and was a Wesleyan minister at Trinity Church, New Chester Road, Rock Ferry, Birkenhead.11
     In 1901 he was living at 114 Bishopthorpe Road, Castlegate, St Clements, York, YorkshireG, and was recorded as Walter Sackett, Wesleyan Methodist minister, head of household, married, aged 36 and born in Barham. Living with him were his wife Emma, 37, and their son Herbert, aged seven. Also in the household was a female domestic servant.12
     In 1911 he was living at 1 Feversham Crescent, York, YorkshireG, and was recorded as Walter Sackett, a Wesleyan Methodist minister, head of household, aged 46 and born in Barham, Kent. Living with him were his wife Emma, 47, and their sons, Herbert, 17, and Arthur, aged eight. Also in the household was a female domestic servant.13

     In 1913 he was living at 28 Mansel Road, Wimbledon, SurreyG.14
     Walter proved his father Jeremiah's will on 13 March 1918. His estate was valued at £1,496.15
     In 1921 he was living at 40 Lansdowne Road, Tottenham, LondonG, and was recorded as Walter Sackett, a Wesleyan Minister, head of household, aged 56. Living with him were his wife Emma, 57, and their son Arthur, aged 19.16
     Walter's widow Emma was granted administration on 6 May 1924 of her son Herbert's estate, valued at £97.17
     Walter left a will which was proved on 10 May 1924 by his widow Emma. His estate was valued at £992.18
     Walter's widow Emma left a will which was proved on 25 February 1938 by their son Arthur. Her estate was valued at £2,515.19
