Ebenezer Buel Sackett, hatter, son of Lieutenant Elijah Sacket and Dorothy Hitchcock, was born in Hartford, New JerseyG, on 2 December 1803.1,2 He died aged 63 in Columbus, Franklin County, OhioG, on 5 November 18671 and was buried at Green Lawn Cemetery, ColumbusG.3 He married on 29 July 1828, Emily Taylor.1 Emily was born in St Lawrence County, New York StateG, on 22 March 1807.3,4 She died aged 90 on 27 December 1897 and was buried at Falls Cemetery, Wabash, Wabash County, IndianaG.3
Ebenezer was listed in the 1830 census as a householder in Champion, Jefferson County, New York StateG.5 In 1840 he was a householder in Ridgway, Orleans County, New York StateG.6
In 1850 Ebenezer was living in Columbus, Franklin County, OhioG, and was recorded in the census as Eb B Sackett, a hatter, aged 42 [actually 46] and born in New York. Living with him were his wife Emily, 35 [43], and their children, Irwin, 21, and Ermina, 18.7
In 1870 Ebenezer's widow Emily was living in Columbus, Franklin County, OhioG, and was recorded in the census as Emelia Sackett, aged 63. Her daughter Ermina, 35, was living with her.8
In 1880 she was living in Carthage, Jefferson County, New York StateG, in the household of her sister Lovicy and brother-in-law Suel Gilbert, and was recorded as Emily Sackett, aged 73. Her unmarried daughter Ermina, 48, was living with her.9

He resided and kept a hatshop at Champion after his marriage until 1840, when he removed to and spent the remaining years of his life at Columbus, O.

Wabash, Ind., Dec. 28.—Mrs. Emily Sackett, one of the oldest residents of Wabash, died this morning of old age. She was born ninety-two years ago in New York, and until a few years ago made her home at Columbus, O., whence she came to Wabash. The funeral takes place Wednesday at 3:30 o'clock.
