Jeremiah Sackett, tailor of Ramsgate, Kent, son of Jeremiah Sackett and Sarah Hodgeman, was born on 19 January 1798 and baptized at St Lawrence in Thanet^G on 28 February 1798.¹ He died aged 27 in 1825 and was buried at Ebenezer Independent Chapel, Ramsgate^G, on 29 October 1825.³ He married at St Lawrence in Thanet^G on 2 November 1818, Charlotte Lawrence.²

Edward Sackett, tailor of Ramsgate, Kent, son of Jeremiah Sackett and Sarah Hodgeman, was born in St Lawrence in Thanet, Kent^G, on 6 October 1799¹ and baptized at St Lawrence in Thanet^G on 24 November 1799.¹ He died aged 77² and was buried at St Lawrence in Thanet^G on 18 November 1876.⁴ He married at St Lawrence in Thanet^G on 12 April 1825, Sarah Sage.³ Sarah was born in Dover, Kent^G, about 1800.⁵ She died aged 80^6,7 and was buried at St Lawrence Church^G on 3 February 1880.⁶
     Edward was named as a beneficiary in his grandfather John Sackett's will made in St Peter in Thanet, Kent^G, on 26 April 1823. He was to receive an amount of £30 at age 21.⁸
     In 1841 Edward was living at Hereson Road, St Lawrence in Thanet, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as Edward Sackett, a tailor, aged 40 and born in Kent. Living with him were his wife Sarah, also 40, and their children, Edward, 9, Jeremiah, 7, Eliza, 5, and Mary, 3. Also in the household were Ruth Sage, 23, and Mary Sage, 20, presumably both related to Edward's wife Sarah.⁹
     In 1851 he was living at 34 Addington Place, Ramsgate, Kent^G, and was recorded as Edward Sackett, a tailor, head of household, married, aged 50, and born in Ramsgate. Living with him were his wife Sarah, aged 49, and born in Dover, and their children Edward, 19, Jeremiah, 16, Mary Ann, 13, and Henry, 9.¹⁰
     In 1861 he was living at 7 Spencer Square, Ramsgate^G, and was recorded as Edward Sackett, a tailor, head of household, married, aged 61 and born in Ramsgate. Living with him were his wife Sarah, aged 60 and born in Dover, Kent, and their sons Edward, 29, Jeremiah, 27, and Henry, 19.¹¹

Sarah Sackett, daughter of Jeremiah Sackett and Sarah Hodgeman, was born in St Lawrence in Thanet, Kent^G, on 24 April 1801¹ and baptized at St Lawrence in Thanet^G on 24 May 1801.¹ She died aged 62 in Ramsgate, Kent^G, on 11 October 1863.^2,3 She married at St Lawrence in Thanet^G on 28 February 1826, Stephen Bayly, a grocer.^4,5 He was born in Folkestone, Kent^G, about 1800.⁶
     Stephen and Sarah moved from Ramsgate to Eastry in the late 1830s or 1840 and established a grocery business there.
     In 1841 Sarah was living at Church Street, Eastry, Kent^G, in the household of her husband Stephen Bayly, 40, a grocer, and was recorded in the census as Sarah Bayly, aged 35 and born in Kent. Living with them were their children, Stephen, 10, Emma, 3, and Eliza, aged one month.⁷
     In 1851 she was living at Church Street, Eastry^G, in the household of her husband Stephen, 51, a grocer, and was recorded as Sarah Bayly, aged 49 and born in Ramsgate. Living with them were their children, Sarah, 21, Emma, 13, Eliza, 9, and Louisa, aged six. Also in the household were two female servants and one male grocer's assistant.⁸

Thomas Sackett, tailor of Ramsgate, Kent, son of Jeremiah Sackett and Sarah Hodgeman, was born in St Lawrence in Thanet, Kent^G, on 2 June 1803¹ and baptized at St Lawrence in Thanet^G on 2 July 1803.² He died aged 64 in Ramsgate^G on 16 July 1867³ and was buried at St George's Church, Ramsgate^G.^5,6 He married at St Leonard's, Deal, Kent^G, on 16 April 1827, Maria Diggerson.⁴ Maria was born about 1802.⁷ She died aged 84 in Ramsgate^G on 26 January 1887⁸ and was buried at Ramsgate Cemetery^G.⁶
     In 1851 Thomas was living at 8 Sion Hill, Ramsgate, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as Thomas Sackett, a tailor, head of household, married, aged 44 and born in Ramsgate. Living with him were his wife Maria, aged 45, and born in Deal, their unmarried son Henry, aged 23, Maria's sister Susanna Diggerson, and niece Ann Diggerson.⁹
     In 1861 he was living at 6 Royal Crescent, Ramsgate, Kent^G, and was recorded as Thomas Sackett, aged 57, and born in Ramsgate. He and his wife Maria, aged 56, and also born in Ramsgate, were living in the household of his son Henry D Sackett.¹⁰
     In 1871 Thomas's widow Maria was living at 13 Hertford Place, Ramsgate, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as Maria Sackett, a greengrocer, head of household, a widow, aged 73, and born in Deal.¹¹

John Sackett, tailor of Ramsgate, Kent, son of Jeremiah Sackett and Sarah Hodgeman, was born in St Lawrence in Thanet, Kent^G, on 6 March 1805¹ and baptized at St Lawrence in Thanet^G on 7 April 1805.² He died aged 67 in Thanet^G in 1873³ and was buried at St George's Church, Ramsgate^G, on 26 February 1873.⁷ He married first before 1828, Sarah Ashby.⁴ Sarah was born about 1805.⁸ She died aged 41 and was buried at St George, Ramsgate^G, on 26 November 1846.⁹ He married second at Old Church, St Pancras, Middlesex^G, on 14 October 1855, Elizabeth Rutter.^5,6 Elizabeth was born in Mevagissy, Cornwall^G, between 1816 and 1821.¹⁰
     In 1841 Sarah was living at Effingham Place, Ramsgate, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as Sarah Sackett, a dressmaker, aged 30, and born not in Kent. Living with her were her children: Elizabeth, 12, Sarah, 10, John, 6, Maria, 4, and Emma, 1, all born in Kent. Also in the household was a 15-year-old female servant. An 1841 census record for John has not been found.^11,12
     By 1848 John had become financially insolvent and a hearing was held at the County Court, Ramsgate, on 24 June 1848.¹³
     In 1851 John was living at 6 Cavendish Street, Ramsgate, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as John Sackett, master tailor, head of household, a widower, aged 44, and born in Ramsgate. Living with him were his son John, aged 18, and daughter Emma, aged 12.¹⁴
     In 1861 he was living at 4 George Place, Ramsgate, Kent^G, and was recorded as John Sackett, a tailor, head of household, married, aged 54, and born in Ramsgate. Living with him was his wife Elizabeth, aged 40 and born in Cornwall.¹⁵
     In 1871 he was living at 4 Codrington Road, Ramsgate, Kent^G, and was recorded as John Sackett, a tailor, head of household, married, aged 65, and born at Ramsgate. Living with him was his wife Elizabeth, aged 55 and born at Mevagissy, Cornwall.¹⁶

Henry Sackett, tailor, of Thanet, Kent, and New York City, son of Jeremiah Sackett and Sarah Hodgeman, was born in St Lawrence in Thanet, Kent^G, on 16 September 1806.¹ He was baptized at St Lawrence in Thanet^G on 9 November 1806.¹ He died aged 44 in New York City^G on 19 May 1851.² He married at St Lawrence in Thanet^G on 26 December 1826, Elizabeth Mary Elgar, daughter of Thomas Elgar Sr and Mary Bird.³ Elizabeth was born in St Lawrence in Thanet^G on 11 September 1808.² She died in Piermont, Portland County, New York State^G, on 11 May 1873.²
     Henry and Elizabeth emigrated from Thanet, Kent, to New York City, arriving there on the President on 10 June 1836. They took their children, Thomas, Elizabeth, Margaret, and Henry, but not Mary Bird who remained in Thanet with her maternal grandparents, Thomas and Mary Elgar.⁴
     In 1871 Henry's widow Elizabeth was living at 3 Serene Place, Broadstairs, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as Elizabeth Mary Sackett, an annuitant, head of household, a widow, aged 62, and born in Ramsgate, Kent. Living with her was her daughter Emma Vanwart, married, aged 21, and born in New York.⁵
     Henry's widow Elizabeth died intestate. Letters of administration of her estate were granted in the Principal Probate Registry, London^G, on 14 March 1883 to her daughter Mary Bird Sackett.⁶

William Williams Sackett, son of Jeremiah Sackett and Sarah Hodgeman, was born in Ramsgate, Kent^G, on 13 October 1808¹ and baptized at St Lawrence in Thanet^G on 4 November 1808.² He died aged 59^3,4 and was buried at St George's Church, Ramsgate^G, on 23 September 1868.⁴ He was unmarried.
     In 1841 William was living at Harbour Street, Ramsgate^G, in the household of his parents Jeremiah and Sarah, and was recorded in the census as William Sackett, a tailor, aged 30 and born in Kent.⁵
     In 1851 he was living at 25 Spencer Square, Ramsgate^G, in the household of his sister Eliza, and was recorded as William Sackett, of no occupation, unmarried, aged 39, and born in Ramsgate.⁶
     In 1861 he was living at Stoke House School, Ramsgate, Kent^G, in the household of his unmarried sister Eliza, and was recorded as William Sackett, unmarried, aged 51, and born in Ramsgate.⁷

Hannah Sackett, daughter of Jeremiah Sackett and Sarah Hodgeman, was born on 11 September 1810 and baptized at St Lawrence in Thanet, Kent^G, on 14 October 1810.¹ She died in infancy and was buried at St Peter in Thanet^G on 24 March 1811.²

Samuel Sackett, son of Jeremiah Sackett and Sarah Hodgeman, was born in Ramsgate, Kent^G, on 30 March 1812¹ and baptized at St Lawrence in Thanet^G on 24 May 1812.² He died aged 83 in Steyning, Sussex^G, in 1895.³ He married first at St Peter in Thanet^G on 30 May 1831, Elizabeth Ann Watts.⁴ Elizabeth was born about 1813.⁷ Elizabeth died aged 47 in Maidstone, Kent^G, in 1860.⁸ He married second in Brighton, Sussex^G, in 1872, Ann Ellis.^5,6 She was born in Aldingbourne, Sussex^G, about 1812^9,10 and died aged 77 at home at 37 Coleman Street, Brighton^G, on 26 July 1889.¹¹
     Administration of Ann's estate was granted to her daughter Caroline Whittingham on 24 September 1889.¹²
     In 1841 Samuel was living at Albion Street, St Peter's, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as Samuel Sackett, a bookseller, aged 28 and born in Kent. Living with him were his wife Elizabeth, 28, and sons Samuel, 10, and Jacob, aged one.¹³
     In 1851 Samuel was living at 3 Staffordshire Place, Ramsgate, Kent^G, and was recorded in the census as Samuel Sackett, a tailor, head of household, married, aged 38, and born in Ramsgate. Living with him were his wife Elizabeth, aged 37, and born in Ramsgate, and their children, Samuel, 19, Jacob, 11, Jeremiah, 8, Elizabeth, 5, and John, aged one year and ten months.¹⁴
     In 1861 he was living at 9 Montefiore Place, Ramsgate, Kent^G, and was recorded as Samuel Sackett, a milkman & greengrocer, head of household, a widower, aged 49, and born in Ramsgate. Living with him were his daughter Elizabeth, aged 16, and son John, aged 11.¹⁵
     In 1871 he was living at 2 Montague Place, Brighton, Sussex^G, and was recorded as Samuel Sackett, an annuitant, a widower, head of household, aged 59 and born in Ramsgate. Living with him were his widowed daughter Elizabeth Elliott, 26, with her children, William, 6, and Caroline, 3, and Samuel's unmarried son, John A Sackett, aged 24.¹⁶
     A record for Samuel in the 1881 census has not been found. His second wife Ann was recorded at 14 Richmond Road Terrace, Brighton, Sussex^G, where she was a nurse in the household of George Mussell, wife Eliza, and baby Florence.¹⁷

Mary Hodgman Sackett, daughter of Jeremiah Sackett and Sarah Hodgeman, was baptized at St Lawrence in Thanet, Kent^G, on 26 June 1814.¹ She died in infancy and was buried at St Peter in Thanet^G on 3 March 1815.²

Eliza Sackett, daughter of Jeremiah Sackett and Sarah Hodgeman, was born in Ramsgate, Kent^G, in 1816 and baptized at St Lawrence in Thanet, Kent^G, on 23 June 1816.¹ She died unmarried aged 72 in Thanet^G in 1889² and was buried at St George's Church, Ramsgate^G, on 12 March 1889.³
     In 1841 Eliza was living at Harbour Street, Ramsgate^G, in the household of her parents Jeremiah and Sarah, and was recorded in the census as Eliza Sackett, aged 23 and born in Kent.⁴
     In 1851 she was living at 25 Spencer Square, Ramsgate^G, and was recorded as Eliza Sackett, a private governess, head of household, unmarried, aged 32, and born in Ramsgate. Living with her were her unmarried sister Mary Ann, aged 30, and unmarried brother William, aged 39.⁵
     In 1861 she was living at Stoke House School, Ramsgate^G, and was recorded as Eliza Sackett, a governess, head of household, unmarried, aged 44, and born in Ramsgate. Also in the household were her unmarried sister Mary aged 42, her unmarried brother William Sackett aged 51, her unmarried cousin Sarah Hope aged 60, and her unmarried niece Maria aged 23.⁶
     In 1871 she was living at Stoke House School, West Cliff Road, Ramsgate^G, and was recorded as Eliza Sackett, a school mistress, head of household, unmarried, aged 52, and born in Ramsgate. Living with her were her unmarried sister Mary who assisted in the school, their niece Maria Sackett who assisted in the house, and an unmarried cousin,Sarah Hope, who was the housekeeper.⁷
     In 1881 she was living at Stoke House, Ramsgate^G, and was recorded as Eliza Sackett, head of household, unmarried, aged 64, and born in Ramsgate. She received her income from house property rents. Also in the household were her 65-year-old widowed cousin Ann Gregory, described as a lady's help, together with a widowed female boarder and a 15-year-old female servant.⁸

Mary Ann Sackett, daughter of Jeremiah Sackett and Sarah Hodgeman, was baptized at St Lawrence in Thanet, Kent^G, on 13 September 1818.¹ She died unmarried aged 62 in Thanet^G on 20 December 1880² and was buried at St George's Church, Ramsgate^G, on 24 December 1880.³
     In 1841 Mary was living at Harbour Street, Ramsgate^G, in the household of her parents Jeremiah and Sarah, and was recorded in the census as Mary Sackett, aged 22 and born in Kent.⁴
     In 1851 she was living at 25 Spencer Square, Ramsgate^G, in the household of her sister Eliza, and was recorded as Mary Ann Sackett, a private governess, unmarried, aged 30, and born in Ramsgate.⁵
     In 1861 she was living at Stoke House School, Ramsgate^G, in the household of her unmarried sister Eliza, and was recorded as Mary A Sackett, a governess, unmarried, aged 42, and born in Ramsgate.⁶
