Charles Sackett, son of Russel Sackett and Polly Brass, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 1 August 1823.1,2,3 He died there aged 46 on 18 May 1869 and was buried at Pine Hill Cemetery, WestfieldG.5,6,7 He married in Springfield, Hampden CountyG, on 12 April 1853, Caroline Jane Furrow, daughter of Peter Furrow.1,4 Caroline was born in WestfieldG about 1836.2 After Charles's death, Caroline married second, in Westfield in 1874, Adam Swan.
     In 1850 Charles was living in WestfieldG in the household of his mother Polly, and was recorded in the census as Charles Sacket, a whip maker, aged 27 and born in Massachusetts.8
     In 1860 he was living in WestfieldG and was recorded as Charles Sacket, a whip maker, aged 36. Living with him was his wife Caroline, aged 23 and born in Massachusetts.9
     Charles served the Union in the American Civil War as a Private in Company K, 27th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment.7,10,11
