Mercy Sackett, daughter of Russel Sackett and Polly Brass, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, in about 1814.1,2,3 She died there aged about 77 on 18 January 1892.4 She was unmarried but had had a son William by a Mr Halliday.

In 1860 she was living in WestfieldG in the household of her brother Roland, and was recorded as Mercy Sacket, a whip maker, aged 44. Living with her was her son William, 21, named as William W Halliday.7

In 1880 she was living in WestfieldG and was recorded as Mercy Sackett, head of household, single, aged 66. Living with her was her unmarried son William, 42. They were living next door to Mercy's sister Lucy and brother-in-law Samuel Judd.9
