Orrin D Sackett, son of John Sacket and Rachel Morse, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 26 October 1814.1 He died there aged 71 on 21 February 18861,2 and was buried at Pine Hill Cemetery, WestfieldG.6 He married first in WestfieldG in October 1839, Julia E Ensign, daughter of James Ensign and May ___.1,3 Julia was born in WestfieldG on 2 July 1821.7 She died there aged 56 on 20 April 18788 and was buried at Pine Hill CemeteryG.6 He married second in West Springfield, Hampden CountyG, on 7 August 1878, Mary Ann Morse, daughter of William Morse and Ann ___, and widow of his first cousin Francis Sackett.1,4,5 Mary was born in EnglandG in 1831.9,7 She died aged 73 in WestfieldG on 11 December 1904 and was buried at Pine Hill CemeteryG.6
     Orrin was named as the main beneficiary in his father's will made in WestfieldG on 16 July 1839. He was to receive the residue of the estate after token bequests to his two married sisters, Roxana and Eunice, with the proviso that he provide home and maintenance for his unmarried sisters, Anne, Cordelia, Clarissa, and Melissa.10
     Orrin was listed in the 1840 census as a householder in WestfieldG.11
     In 1850 Orrin was living in Lockport, Niagara County, New York StateG, and was recorded in the census as Orrin Sacket, a laborer, aged 35. Living with him were his wife Julia, 31, and their son William, aged nine.12
     In 1860 he was living in Agawam, Hampden CountyG, and was recorded as Orrin D Sackett, a farmer, aged 40 [actually 45]. His wife Julia, 36, was living with him.13
     In 1870 he was living in New Haven, New Haven County, ConnecticutG, and was recorded as Orrin D Sackett, a whip maker, aged 54. His wife Julia, 50, was living with him.14
     In 1880 he was living in 576 Clinton Avenue, WestfieldG, and was recorded as Orrin Sackett, a worker in a whip shop, aged 65. He was noted as suffering from apoplexy. Living with him were his second wife, Mary, 48, and her daughter Emma, 22. Also in the household were William Morse, 47, probably Mary's brother, and his son George, aged four months.15
