William Sackett, son of Captain John Sackett and Elizabeth Gibbs, was born in Newtown, Long Island, Queens County, New York StateG, on 23 February 17841 and baptized at the Presbyterian Church, NewtownG, on 15 December 1790.2 He died aged 64 in NewtownG on 4 February 1849.1,3,4 He married Gertrude Meserole, daughter of John Meserole.1 Gertrude was born in about 17895 and died aged 51 in NewtownG on 29 January 1841.6,7
     William was named as a beneficiary in his grandfather William Sackett's will made in Newtown, Long IslandG, on 7 June 1798.8
     William Sackett was a member of a company of Queens County Militia.
     William was listed in the 1820 census as a householder in Queens CountyG.9
     William was listed in the census in 1830 and 1840 as a householder in Newtown, Queens CountyG.10,11

Jeremiah V Sackett (c 1822–) and Abram M Sackett (c 1832–), whose parents have not otherwise been identified, were probably also children of William Sackett and Gertrude Meserole.
