William Sackett, shipwright of Bermondsey, son of John Sackett and Mary Hughes, was baptized at Birchington, Thanet, KentG, on 18 February 1781.1 He died aged 44 and was buried at St Mary, BermondseyG, on 1 February 1824.2 He married at St John Horsleydown, BermondseyG, on 18 August 1805, Lydia Hooff, daughter of Richard Hooff and Jane ___.3 Lydia was born in Rotherhithe, SurreyG, on 6 May 1785 and baptized at St Mary, RotherhitheG, on 3 June 1785.4
     William was apprenticed as a shipwright to his uncle Thomas Sackett of London on 23 February 1797.5
