Homer Sackett, son of Deacon & Captain Justus Sacket and Lydia Newcomb, was born in Kent (later Warren), Litchfield County, ConnecticutG, on 6 August 1765.1,2 He died aged 87 in WarrenG on 17 May 18532,3 and was buried at the Old Cemetery, WarrenG.4 He married in WarrenG on 19 August 1787, Sarah Carter, daughter of Lieut Samuel Carter and Martha Buell, and sister of Benjamin Carter who married Homer's sister Lydia.2,5,6 Sarah was born in WarrenG on 30 October 1768.6 She died there aged 84 on 25 October 18526,7 and was buried at the Old Cemetery, WarrenG.8
     In 1790 Homer was living in Warren, Litchfield County, ConnecticutG. In his household were one man, two boys, and one female.9
     Homer was listed in the census in 1800 and 1810 as a householder in WarrenG.10,11
     Homer was a pew holder in the Congregational Church of Christ, WarrenG, in 1816 and in 1822.7,12,13
     Homer was listed in the census in 1830 and 1840 as a householder in WarrenG.14,15
     Homer made a will at WarrenG in 1844. He left his real estate to his wife during her lifetime, the estate then to go to their son Homer Jr, subject to Homer making cash payments to the other children. In the event, Homer's wife Sarah predeceased him. Appraisers appointed in June 1853 to make an inventory found the estate to be insolvent. At the request of Homer Jr as sole executor, commissioners were appointed by the Litchfield Probate Court to settle the claims of creditors.
     In 1850 Homer was living in Warren, Litchfield CountyG, and was recorded in the census as Homer Sackett, a farmer, aged 85. Living with him were his wife Sarah, 81, their son Homer Jr, 48, and daughter-in-law Flora, 42, and Homer and Flora's children, Edward, 14, Homer S, 11, Augustine, 9, and Flora, aged three. There were also two male laborers in the household and an 18-year-old female, perhaps a servant or farm worker.16

Appraisers appointed to make an inventory found the estate to be insolvent.
Executor Homer Sackett Jr requested Probate Court to appoint Commissioners to settle the claims of creditors. Commissioners appointed 18 Jun 1853.
