Henry Dwight Sackett, also known as Henry Slater, son of ___ Slater and Julia Sackett, was born in Chautauqua County, New York State^G, in January 1859.¹ He died aged 78 in Sherman, Chautauqua County^G, on 16 February 1937.² He married in Mina, Chautauqua County, New York State^G, on 1 April 1885, Rhoda Shore, daughter of Jacob Shore and Mary Christina Slickner.³ Rhoda was born in New York State^G in March 1858.¹ She died aged 48 in Mina^G on 10 April 1906⁴ and was buried at Mina Cemetery^G.⁵
     Henry Dwight Sackett appears in the records as Dwight Sackett, Henry Slater, Henry Sackett, and Henry D Sackett. Places and other household members suggest that these were all the same man. It would seem likely that he was an illegitimate son of Julia Sackett by a father named Slater.
     In 1860 Henry was living in Harmony, Chautauqua County, New York State^G, in the household of Joel Sackett, 59, a farm laborer, and was recorded in the census as Dwight Sacket, aged one and born in New York. Dwight is assumed to be the son of Joel's daughter Julia, 28, also in the household.⁶
     In 1865 he was living in Harmony^G in the household of his mother Julia, and was recorded as Henry Slater, aged six and born in Chautauqua County, New York. Henry is assumed to be the same as Dwight Sackett of the 1860 census.⁷
     In 1870 he was living in Mina, Chautauqua County^G, and was recorded as Dwight Sackett, aged eleven. He was living with Louisa Sackett, 68, in the household of Henry Babbitt, a farmer. Louisa would have been Dwight's grandmother.⁸
     He was probably the Hen D Sacket, laborer, aged 21, living in Wetmore, McKean County, Pennsylvania^G, in 1880 in the household of J W and Nelly Batchlet with a number of other laborers.⁹
     In 1892 he was living in Mina^G and was recorded as Dwight Sackett, a farmer, aged 34. His wife Rhoda, 35, was living with him.¹⁰
     In 1900 he was living in Mina^G and was recorded as Dwight Sackett, a farmer, aged 41. His wife Rhoda, 42, was living with him.¹¹
     In 1905 he was living in Mina^G and was recorded as Henry Sacket, a farmer, an employer, aged 49. His wife Rhoda, 49, was living with him. There was also a farm laborer in the household.¹²
     In 1920 he was living at Mina Road, Sherman, Chautauqua County, New York State^G, and was recorded as Henry D Sackett, a dairy farmer, aged 60, a widower.¹³
     In 1930 he was living in Findley Lake Road, Sherman^G, and was recorded as Henry D Sacket, a dairy farmer, aged 71, a widower.¹⁴

     In 1860 Irene was living in Wyalusing, Grant County, Wisconsin^G, in the household of her parents Amos and Louisa, and was recorded in the census as Irene M Hazen, aged six and born in Wisconsin.²
     In 1870 she was living in Mount Hope, Grant County^G, in the household of her parents Amos and Louisa, and was recorded as Irene M Hazen, at home, aged 16.³
