Robert Sackett, yeoman of St John in Thanet, Kent, son of Edward Sackett and Alice ___, was baptized at St Peter in ThanetG on 3 November 1587.1 He died aged 75 and was buried there on 15 March 1662/63, described in the burials register as "an ancient bachelor."2
     Robert was named as a beneficiary in his father's will made at St Lawrence in ThanetG on 20 October 1624.3 He was appointed executor of his father's estate and inherited land at St Peter in Thanet and the residue of the estate.
     Robert made his will at St John in ThanetG on 16 February 1660, naming as beneficiaries his sisters Alice, Ellen, Margaret and Elizabeth, his nephews Leonard Austen, John Jarvis, Thomas Jenkin and Daniel Jenkin, and his nieces Mary Jarvis, Margaret Jarvis, Sarah Jenkin, Elizabeth Gillowe and Mildred Gillowe.4 Robert was evidently a reasonably prosperous yeoman farmer, leaving several land holdings to his nephew Leonard Austen as well as significant moneys to his other nephews and nieces. Robert's will was witnessed by a Richard Sackett who was probably his first cousin once removed Richard Sackett (1626–1692.) The will was proved at the Archdeaconry Court of CanterburyG on 25 March 1664.4

Sister Alice’s 6 children, £6 each.
Sister Ellin’s 6 children, £6 each.
Sister Margaret’s 6 children, £39 shared as follows: John Jarvis, £14; Mary, wife of Peter Swinford, £6;
Margaret, widow of Philimon Chamberlain, £6; Thomas Jenkin, 40/-; Daniel Jenkin, his brother, £6; Sarah Jenkin, wife of John Barret, £5.
Sister Elizabeth Gillow’s children: Elizabeth, wife of Vincent Denn, £6; Mildred, wife of John Paine, £6.
5 children of kinsman Edward Jarvis dec’d: John & Margaret Jarvis, 40/- each; Daniel, Edward & Joane Jarvis, 10/- each.
Executor: Leonard Austen.
