Edward Sackett, yeoman of Thanet, Kent, son of William Sackett and Johan ___, was born in about 1555. He died aged about 74 and was buried at St Peter in ThanetG on 4 February 1628/29, described in the burials register as "an old man."1 He married first in about 1580, Alice ___.2 She was buried at St Peter in ThanetG on 22 July 1594.3 He married second at St Peter in ThanetG on 23 December 1595, Johan (___) Sampson, a widow.4,5 She was buried at St Peter in ThanetG on 11 May 1621.6 He married third at St Peter in ThanetG on 12 August 1622, Rebecca (___) Thatcher, a widow.7 Rebecca died only a few days after their marriage and was buried at St Peter in ThanetG on 25 August 1622.8
     Edward was named as a beneficiary in his father's will made at Jordan Dane, St John in ThanetG, on 20 December 1572.9 He was to inherit, when 21, a tenement with arable and pasture lands at St Peter's and more arable land at St John's.
     Edward may have been the godparent Edward Sackett named in the baptism record at Birchington in 1602 of Edward Sackett the son of William Sackett.
     Edward made his will at St Lawrence in ThanetG on 20 October 1624.10 He named as beneficiaries his sons, Richard and Robert, and his daughters, Alice, Ellen, Elizabeth, and Margaret. Edward owned land in St John in Thanet and St Peter in Thanet, as well as, presumably, in St Lawrence in Thanet. He left monetary amounts to each of his daughters, money and land at St John in Thanet to his son Richard, and land at St Peter in Thanet to his son Robert, who was appointed executor and was to inherit the residue of the estate. The will was proved at the Archdeaconry Court of CanterburyG on 21 February 1629.
