John Nethercott, son of Daniel Nethercott and Grace Sutton, was baptized at Luxborough, SomersetG, on 30 July 1797.1 He married in Old Cleeve, SomersetG, on 18 June 1819, Joan Popham.2
     In 1841 John was living in Luxborough, SomersetG, and was recorded in the census as John Nethercott, an agricultural labourer, aged 40+ and born in Somerset. Living with him were his wife Jean, 40+, and eight children, including Sarah, aged 15+.3
