Arthur James Sackett, later Arthur James Rich, son of Charles C Sackett and Elizabeth Ellen Tompkins, was born in Astoria, Clatsop County, OregonG, on 30 October 1881.1 He died aged 81 in Florence, Lane County, OregonG, on 5 April 19632,3 and was buried at Acacia Memorial Park, Lake Forest Park, King County, Washington StateG.4 He married in Seattle, King CountyG, on 28 December 1916, Cora Elvida Johnson, daughter of Charles Johnson and Amalia Bullaca Nelson.5 Cora was born at Chippewa Falls, Chippewa County, WisconsinG, on 3 April 1891.4,6 She died aged 58 in SeattleG on 8 March 1950 and was buried at Acacia Memorial ParkG.4
     Arthur's parents Charles and Elizabeth would appear to have divorced sometime before 1890, Elizabeth having married her second husband Chester Warren Rich by that year, with their first child being born in January 1891. Arthur took the Rich surname, all records after that of his birth as Arthur Sackett being in the name of Rich.
     Arthur was enumerated twice in the 1900 census. He was listed on 1 June as Arthur J Rich, a marine engineer, aged 17 [actually 18], an employee in the household of Charles C McGowan in Warrendale, Multnomah County, OregonG.7 On 13 June he was listed as Arthur Rich, captain of a gasoline boat, aged 19 [18] in the household of his stepfather Chester W Rich and mother Elizabeth in AstoriaG.8
     In 1910 he was living in Wedderburn, Curry County, OregonG, and was recorded as Arthur J Rich, a marine engineer, aged 27, single.9
     In 1920 he was living in SeattleG and was recorded as Arthur J Rich, a rancher, head of household, aged 38. He owned his home. His wife Cora, 27, was living with him.10
     In 1930 he was living at 8th Avenue West, SeattleG, and was recorded as Arthur J Rich, a salesman at the Associated Oil Company, head of household, aged 49. His wife Cora, 39, was living with him.11
     In 1940 he was living at 2136 8th Avenue, SeattleG, and was recorded as Arthur J Rich, a business census enumerator, head of household, aged 58. He owned his home. His wife Cora, 48, was living with him.12
     Arthur completed a World War II draft registration card on 27 April 1942. He was aged 60 and was a soldier in the US Army Corps of Engineers. He was living at 2136 8th Avenue, SeattleG.13
     In 1950 he was living at 2136 8th Avenue, SeattleG, and was recorded as Arthur J Rich, a steam plant engineer in an office building, head of household, aged 68, a widower.14
