George H Sackett, son of Joseph Sackett and Sarah L ___, was born in New York StateG in about 1832.1 He died aged about 24 in Ellicott, Chautauqua CountyG, in 1856.2
George was named as a beneficiary in the will of his father Joseph made in Stockton, Chautauqua County, New York StateG, on 17 July 1849. He was to inherit the estate, both real and personal, subject to his mother Sarah's interest in half of the estate during her widowhood.
In 1850 George was living in StocktonG and was recorded in the census as George H Sackett, a farmer, aged 18 and born in New York. His recently widowed mother Sarah, 54, was living with him.3
Letters of administration of George's estate were granted in the court at Sinclairville, Chautauqua CountyG, on 27 November 1856 to Esther J Sackett.4 Esther's appointment as administratrix suggests she was George's wife although a record has not been found.
