John Wallace Sackett Sr, son of Reuben Sackett and Eliza Branson, was born near Blue Mound, Stonington, Christian County, IllinoisG, on 20 January 1893.1,2 He died aged 81 in Malta, Phillips County, MontanaG, on 14 January 1975 and was buried at Moccasin Cemetery, Mocassin, Judith Basin County, MontanaG.3,4,5 He married in Lewistown, Fergus County, MontanaG, on 9 April 1943, Lucy Rose Skaggs, daughter of Benjamin F Skaggs and Ollie May Archer.6 Lucy was born in LewistownG on 1 March 1917.7,8 She died aged 55 in a car accident near Windham, Judith Basin CountyG, on 31 May 1972 and was buried at Moccasin CemeteryG.3,9
In 1900 John was living in Stonington, Christian County, IllinoisG, in the household of his parents Reuben and Eliza, and was recorded in the census as John W Sackett, aged seven and born in Illinois.10
In 1910 he was living in StoningtonG in the household of his widowed mother Eliza, and was recorded as John W Sackett, a farm hand, aged 17.11
John completed a World War I draft registration card on 5 June 1917. He was aged 24 and was a self-employed farmer. He was single and was living at Blue MoundG with his mother.12
In 1920 he was living in StoningtonG and was recorded as John Sackett, a farmer, head of household, aged 27, single. His widowed mother Eliza, 59, was living with him. There was also a male farm laborer in the household.13
John removed in 1927 with his brother Oscar and their mother Eliza from Illinois to Moccasin, Montana.
In 1930 he was living in MocassinG in the household of his brother Oscar, and was recorded as John Sackett, a farm laborer, aged 35, single. Both John and Oscar were unemployed at the census date. Their widowed mother Eliza was living with them.14
In 1940 he was living in MocassinG in the household of his brother Oscar, and was recorded as John Sackett, a farmer, aged 47, single.15

Lewistown — John W. Sackett, 82, Stanford, died Tuesday night in a Malta hospital after a short illness.
He was born Jan. 1, 1893, near Springfield, Ill., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Sackett. He attended school in Illinois and spent his early life on a farm near Blue Mound, Ill. In 1927 he moved to Montana and farmed near Moccasin until his retirement in 1957. He continued to live on the farm until 1972, when he moved to Stanford.
In 1943, he married Lucy R. Skaggs in Lewistown.
Survivors include a son, John; and a daughter, Nancy Sackett, both of Stanford.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Cloyd Funeral Chapel in Lewistown, with the Rev. Ron Brown of First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Moccasin Cemetery.

Moccasin — Mrs. Lucy Rose Sackett, 55, Moccasin, was killed in a car accident Wednesday east of Windham.
She was born March 1, 1917, in Lewistown, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Skaggs. She attended school at Lewistown and graduated from Moccasin High School in 1935. She was married to John Sackett in 1933 [sic: 1943] in Lewistown.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cloyd Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Ron McConkey, First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Moccasin Cemetery.
Survivors include the widower; two sons, John Jr., Butte, and Jim, Melstone; a daughter, Nancy, at home; two brothers, Henry, Mountain View, Calif., and Harold, Tanzania, Africa; and two sisters, Mrs. Walter Johnson, Moore, and Mrs. Pete Boettger, Lewistown.
