Joyce Marian "Joy" Sackett, daughter of Glenn Woodward Sackett and Dorothy N Rose, was born in Grand Rapids, Kent County, MichiganG, on 21 May 1922. She died aged 86 on 19 April 2009 and was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Grand RapidsG.1,2 She married in Grand RapidsG on 10 April 1944, Craig Ralph Hitchcock, son of Ralph L Hitchcock and Sadie E Bentley. Craig was born in Pontiac, Oakland County, MichiganG, on 11 June 1922.2 He died aged 79 in Grand RapidsG on 30 May 2002 and was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Grand RapidsG.2
In 1930 Joyce was living at Croswell Avenue, East Grand Rapids, Kent CountyG, in the household of her parents Glenn and Dorothy, and was recorded in the census as Marion Sackett, aged seven and born in Michigan.3
In 1940 she was living at Croswell Avenue, East Grand RapidsG, in the household of her parents Glenn and Dorothy, and was recorded as M Joyce Sackett, aged 18.4
In 1930 Joyce was living at Croswell Avenue, East Grand Rapids, Kent CountyG, in the household of her parents Glenn and Dorothy, and was recorded in the census as Marion Sackett, aged seven and born in Michigan.3

Joyce S. "Joy" Hitchcock, aged 86, a lifelong resident of Grand Rapids, left peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2009.
Joy was an avid Contract Bridge Player. She enjoyed traveling around the world with her husband of 58 years and spending the Michigan winters on a beach in Maui, HI.
Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Craig, and youngest son, James.
Joy is survived by sons, David (Jean), LaJolla, CA, Curt, Costa Mesa, CA; grandchildren, John, Evanston, IL, Kathryn (Eric), LaJolla, CA; great granddaughter, Kora; and very special friend, Barbara Deppe, Wyoming, MI.
Funeral services will not be held at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan. The family is being served by: Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Service.
