Elsie A Sackett, daughter of Richard Henry Sackett and Mary Ellen Bosley, was born in Chesterton, Porter County, IndianaG, on 18 October 1875.1 She died aged 65 in Manton, Wexford County, MichiganG, on 1 December 1940.2 She married in MantonG on 2 July 1910, Heman Burr Epley, son of Moses Hayden Epley and Fannie E Smith.3 Heman was born in Jamestown, Ottawa County, MichiganG, on 25 April 1871.4,5,6 He died aged 97 in Saint Joseph, Berrien County, MichiganG, on 24 January 19696 and was buried at Fairview Cemetery, MantonG.5
In 1880 Elsie was living in Westchester, Porter County, IndianaG, in the household of her parents Henry and Mary, and was recorded in the census as Elsie Sackett, aged five and born in Indiana.7
In 1900 she was living at Cedar Creek, Wexford County, MichiganG, in the household of her father Henry, and was recorded as Elsie Sackett, aged 25.8
In 1910 she was living at Cedar CreekG in the household of her widowed father Henry, and was recorded as Elsie Sackett, aged 34, single.9
In 1920 she was living at South Michigan Avenue, Cedar CreekG, in the household of her husband Burr Epley, 48, a carrier, and was recorded as Elsie Epley, aged 44. Living with them were their adopted daughter Frances Epley, aged four, and Heman's widowed mother Fannie Epley, 84.10
In 1930 she was living at South Michigan Avenue, Manton, Wexford CountyG, in the household of her husband Burr, 58, a mail carrier, and was recorded as Elsie A Epley, aged 54. Their adopted daughter Frances, 14, was living with them.11

Heman B. Epley
Heman B. Epley, 97, 1847 Brown School road, St. Joseph, died at 7:40 a.m. today in the Shorebam Terrace nursing home where he had been a patient for ten days.
Mr. Epley, a retired rural mail carrier, was born in Jamestown Center, April 25, 1871.
On July 2, 1909, in Manton, he was married to the former Elsie Sackett who died Dec. 2, 1940.
Mr. Epley was a member of the Brown School Road Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Frances) Langdon, with whom Mr. Epley had been making his home for the past 20 years; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Dey Brothers funeral home. The Rev. James Cook, pastor of the Brown School Road Church of Christ, and the Rev. Robert Mallett, former pastor of the church, will officiate.
Following the services, the body will be taken to the Bostick funeral home at Manton where services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.
