Lilian Sackett

Lilian Sackett, daughter of Martha Jane Gratton, was born probably in St Pancras, LondonG, on 5 January 1894.1 She died aged 87 in Watford, HertfordshireG, in 1981.2 The name of Lilian's father has not been ascertained. Her mother Martha was the widow of John Henry Sackett.
     Lilian and her sister Maud were admitted to the St Pancras School, Leavesden, HertfordshireG, on 4 January 1899 under the Poor Law provisions. Their mother Martha was an inmate at the Highgate Infirmary where she died in early 1899.3
     In 1901 Lilian was living at St Pancras School, Watford, HertfordshireG, and was recorded in the census as Lilian Sackett, a pupil, aged seven, birthplace not known.4
     In 1911 she was living at the St Pancras Infirmary, Dartmouth Park Hill, Highgate, LondonG, and was recorded as Lillian Sackett, aged 17, at school.5
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, Lilian was a domestic servant at St Gabriel's Convent, Newbury, BerkshireG.6
     Lilian left a will which was proved in Ipswich on 5 November 1981. Her estate was valued at less than £25,000.7
