Ichabod Blakeslee, son of Manning Blakeslee and Olive Sacket, was born in MassachusettsG in about 1830.1 He married first in Westfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 4 November 1851, Olive Holmes, daughter of William Holmes.2 Olive was born in Russell, Hampden CountyG, in about 1825.3 She died aged 33 in RussellG on 30 May 1859.4 He married second on 23 November 1859, Maria A Holmes.2
     In 1850 Ichabod was living in Russell, Hampden CountyG, in the household of his mother Olive, and was recorded in the census as Jehabod Blakesley, a laborer, aged 20 and born in Massachusetts.5
     In 1860 he was living in RussellG and was recorded as Ichabod Blakeslee, a farmer, aged 31. Living with him were his second wife, Maria, 19, his children by his first marriage, Alice, 6, and Elbert, 4, his mother Olive, 63, and his brother Henry, 41.6
